We are aware of the concept that outsourcing is "cost effective"

We also know about various departments being outsourced.. Like Ramp Services, Agents, Aircraft Maintenance, Cargo, Customer Service, Reservations.

But why not the Pilot and Flight Attendant groups?

If this is occurring, Fill me in cause I'm not aware of it..

Say if we have a trip that originates in GRU/DFW/GRU..

What can’t we just simply outsource that route to Brazilian Pilots and Flight Attendants to spin that turn?

Sounds like a feasible solution to me… And look at the money we’d save..

When you start outsourcing pilot's, flight attendants and aircraft maintenance you begin losing the heart of the airline, period...Then you have nothing....this is definitely not a way to go for sure...

The heart of this arline is allready gone now this is a place I go to get a paycheck nothing more

BTW.. I not serious about this.. It seems like the apa and apfa unions have some great leadership not to allow this type of crap to happen..

Hats Off!!

Outsourcing Maintance and ramp would be the best. Agents, along with res. agents are the first contact that a customer has with an airlines and they could care less about who works on the airplane.

Well if i was a paying passenger on a plane i would hope the Mechanic that worked on that plane was well compensated and happy and knowledgeable, but that's just my opinion, same goes for the pilots that are flying the trip that day...Again as i said the heart of your airline is the Pilots, mechanics, and flight attendants period...

More and more people buy their tickets online. They purchase their seat, print up their boarding pass and then hand it to the agent to scan as they get on. It wouldnt take much to replace the agent with an FA and they wouldnt have any contact at all with an agent. Of all the workgroups agents have probably become the most endangered. New York Air didnt even have agents, the flight attendants did both jobs. That said when you need an agent you definately would want to deal with one who worked for the airline not someone who was a subcontractor.

AS far as people not caring who works on their plane I think that its more that they assume that the mechanic works for the airline and is qualified. Same for the Ramp, they assume that well paid contientious people are ensuring that everything is done right.

Over the years we've seen various forms of outsourcing but airlines are a service and when you outsource it may appear to be cheaper but service will undoubtably suffer. Peoples Express outsourced all their maintenance and became known as "Peoples Distress". The more you keep in house the more likely you will be able to produce a consistant quality product.

Again as i said the heart of your airline is the Pilots, mechanics, and flight attendants period...

That's right Jet, the hell with ramp rats, unionless agents, dispatchers..... <_<

This is one of the reasons the pilots don't like the One World Allaiance and the AA/BA/IB alliance. At least that is what one told me once.

Bob, I agree with what you are saying about the outsourcing. As far as I am concerned, one group is just as important as the other. It was the way it was said on here by an earlier poster than got under my skin.

Agreed, we are all here because they need us, now if we could just get evryone to actually realize that then maybe we could make this a good place to make a living as well.

AA took in nearly $24billion last year or roughly $300,000 per worker, we need to get a bigger peiece of what we bring in. I'd be happy with a third!! One third for fuel, one third for the company and one third for us.

Thank you AANOTOK  you get what I'm saying. With those 3 work groups i mentioned they all have to do with up front customer relations and directly deal with the safety of the Aircraft , who better to up keep those agenda's then your own people....
