Just wanted to see what the chances of overhaul being outsourced? Would we still be able to bump? Could the company ask the judge not to allow that because all the disruption in system of guy/gals bumping? Could the company claim that the operational necessities and not allow it? Isn't that what happened to the United AMT'S at their overhaul or did they bump their "system?"

You are asking questions for which there are no answers until a situation actually arises and the company asks the court to intervene or doesn't ask the court to intervene. And, since they have revealed nothing of their restructuring plan at this point other than dumping the leases on some unused airplanes, there is no point in speculating about the future of any department in the company.

Good point Jim. With that said, and Having the UTMOST respect for all the employees/contracts/pensions/benefits etc., AND hopeing for the best outcome possible, I still believe that American Airlines will have the ENTIRE industry bemoaning the day that AA essentially gets a " FREE Shot on an Empty Net" !! WHEN AA DOES what it does best, there is NO airline in the USA that can top them in this insane industry. When you tie in AA/JAL/BA and Qantas into one killing machine, along with thier top tier route authorities, NO One can beat them. Star alliance be DAMMED !

True enough that nobody has a clue what is going to happen. After the 1st of January another series of filings will being that process,

As for AA winning any industry battles using their new structure and cost...
...That is of course only until the others revisit Chapter 11 and/or negotiate lower cost than AA.

This doesn't end until the last employee is shafted, dies, retires, or quits.

I think the days of visionary leadership at AA and the industry in general are over. You aren't going to see guys like Crandall, Bethune or Herb again.

Now it's guys like Arpey,Horton and other spreadsheet worshipers and their "Laser Focus" on containing costs.

They can tell you the cost of everything but know the value of nothing.

Amen Brother!!

If I were an advisor, I would advise everyone to let Horton have his opportunity to prove what he can do.

There are two reasons behind this, one is you have no choice and two, I am not an advisor.

But I am sure of one thing, Jim Little is going to fight like hell!

Hey, hows THIS for bad Luck.
I retire (early) from AA and the TWU, and get lucky and get hired by AMTRAK, only to reunite with the TWU and that BAS-TARD Little

The only (BIG) difference here is that these guys that I work with now, would SHUT this Railroad DOWN in a New York Minute !!!!!!!!!!
And lil' Jim KNOWS IT !

Such is life I guess.

We might as well "shut -er down" if the company files to eliminate the contract, because our careers have just been split in half; as in, "before BK" and "after BK" regarding pensions, work rules, salary and everything else that was in the contract.

That UAL mechanic probably should have stayed on. You can get more done on the clock than off however.

"NOBODY" on this or any forum knows anything about what is going to happen to the employees of AA until the section 1113 is presented to the unions by the company.

I don't know why all the animosity towards the TWU,

The failed to TA was voted down by the MAJORITY sounds democratic to me.
The negotiators for the failed TA were either voted out of office or were not part of the new negotiations, that sounds democratic.
The 1995, 2001, and 2003 contracts were voted in by the MAJORITY
The ATD is more then just AA, the TWU as a whole is not just the AA
There has not been overwhelming support for a new union, AMP started in TUL can't even get TUL on board with it. If I remember correctly AMFA was voted down by TUL. It seems to be less a TWU issue and more of a majority of the mechs want the TWU and there are a minority of the squeaky wheel type whiners complaining all the time.

And yes we don't vote on the international officers, but that would fall under no support for a new union, voting for international officers doesn't seem to be a considerable hurdle for the majority of AA mechs sense there is little support for a new union.

Why does everyone think that they know what is going to happen??? Just sit back and shut up, and wait till the company presents its plan. Then there will be all sorts of topics for people to #### about and still nothing you can do about it.

Everyone has sat back and done nothing but screw around for years and not stood up to do what is right when there where plenty of times that we ALL should have stood together.

But there really is no unity and for that no real union because we all don't stay together.

SO just sit back, and take it up the butt, and quit your crying.
