Overseas Checks

If an aircraft needs an A check, whether it is on a 4 hour turnaround or it is a RON, it gets done. What's the big deal? We all work for the same company. We are entitled to the work as much as our US brothers are.
A 4 hour A-check, how many mechanics do you have on it?

Actually Bob Owens is right. He certainly 'aint no brother of mine. To call me and the rest of the overseas workforce "scabs" is absolutely pathetic, what planet are you on Bob? Grow up will you.

Like I said before, we just come to work on a daily besis and do our jobs, that is what we were employed to do. I guess that we have a stronger work ethic than some of the US based AMT's. I would say that is one of the reasons that they do ask outstations to do some ECO's every now and again, the work gets done, no questions asked. We certainly don't have any unions to fight with and actually have a good working relationship with local management.

I've been reading this forum for some time now and it is clearly obvious that some of you guys really seem to hate working for this company. Well open your eyes and take a look around you, AA is the only major left in North America that performs all of it's maintenance in house. You should be pleased and proud about that. If they start to outsource, then all of our jobs are on the line. If the company is really treating you so badly, may I ask why you are still here? So many other AMT's out on the street would love to be in your positions. Just think about that for a minute. I actually enjoy my job and I think that AA is a good company to work for. If you don't like it, then you do have a choice you know.....

So 777Guy are you gonna answer my manpower question? While you're at it, why isn't M&E part of the TGWUas the rest of the groundworkers are? I do recall the mechanics being part of a union prior to the transfer of the LHR routes from TWA to AA.

AMFAMAN. He can't answer you. Look at his profile, his user local time is the east coast. He needs a couple of more time zones to be in LHR. 😱

Yeah, I know, he doesn't even write like an Englishman. Maybe he's from New England, possibly New London, CT.

Just another of Bill's personalities. 😉

Ya! that's called being confused.

Uh, that's the forum default and I'm not even sure how to change it. Mine has been set to east coast as long as this version of software was introduced, even though I live about 2000 miles west of the east coast.

I find it laughable that anyone would think that AA schedules its fleet to reduce the amount of maintenance done stateside. Anyone who believes that probably also thinks that the airline exists to provide them a job first and foremost, and that carrying customers is just an easy way to help pay their salaries.

Y'all are just fiddling while Rome burns -- what's the sense in getting worked up over LHR's single A check per day and two 0922's per day? Shouldn't you be more concerned about the TWU pissing away your dues money?

Funny how AMFAMAN and ch53D don't seem at all concerned that Owens' profile shows his local time as five hours ahead of NYC. Bob Owens must be in London. Just like it did last time these guys got all worked up over 777Guy and they reached the same conclusion: that 777Guy couldn't possibly be in London because a message board profile showed his local time to be EST instead of GMT.

So I am a scab and a fraud !! You people never cease to amaze me....

"Yeah, I know, he doesn't even write like an Englishman."

Just how are English people supposed to write things then? Enlighten me....

I have changed my local time if that will go any way to prove my identity to you. Like FM said, forum default.

To answer some of your questions:

- An A-check, at least 4 men.

- No TGWU for maintenance, never has been. What good has the TWU ever done for you? You all complain about how bad they are.

If it’s a forum default then it needs to be fixed, so we don’t waste time arguing over it.

As long as there are checks being accomplished outside the states on a daily schedule, I will be complaining about it.

Then go work for an airline that only flies within the United States, or find a way to organize the workers outside the U.S.

Personally, the idea that checks are being done when there's time to do them makes me feel better about coming home on AA from Europe. If I want to fly on aircraft that aren't getting maintenance, I can always fly on NWA.

But then again, most customers don't care about maintenance, and most mechanics don't care about customers.

Let’s see AA flies in the neighborhood of 50 cities outside of the states and there are only 11 cities that do checks outside of the states. Most of the 11 only do checks when needed (once or twice a month). Nobody has a problem with that. When an A/C sits on the ground for 8 to 10 hrs in a class I city and has no check accomplished on it then flies to EZE, LHR or PTY and has one done on it, that a problem

A choice? You mean the UNEQUAL Shared Sacrifice will not mean we will return to our pre-concession rate of pay when the company returne to profitability? You know, when AA posts a profit and management receives bonuses? Oh, wait...

Actually Ken, I am in agreement with you on that. The whole situation stinks, but above that and when you take a look at the state of the industry around you into consideration, AA really isn't a bad company to work for at all. Like I said, you have a choice...
