What's new

Overtime, or No Overtime?

I have already pimped with pay and benefit concessions enough so-called job saving TWU ploys.

If I am asked to work overtime, I am working it!

You can call me a scab or whatever else you want, but I have given thousands in pay and benefits to "save jobs" and the jobs through attrition are still gone.

NO MORE!

I am working overtime and the rest can kiss my arse!

It's one thing to work OT for a job continuance, but working tons of OT on all two or three days off every week for months on end is UNACCEPTABLE. For instance, at AFW the TAESL "scabs" have been sucking up tons of OT for the last year or so while we still have over 100 people on layoff. We still have people who are stuck in the shops for four years now as OSM's and no end in sight. I think it is unethical what is going on over at TAESL while people are still on layoff. It's just plain wrong.

I agree. Purpose of union shop is for all membership to
work for the good on all members. If there are some on
layoff status then goal should be to get them back on
active payroll.

The company just does schedule work like that. They don't just say "wow, no one taking any OT lets bring some people back". It is an overly simplistic reaction to a complicated issue.

If nobody works the OT, they've got three choices:

1) move the work somewhere else (somewhat easy to do with aircraft)
2) re-bid the work schedule to meet the revised workload (only requires two or three weeks notice)
3) recalls

Call me a cynic, but I think they'll just reduce the workload for your station and shift it before they'd consider recalling.

eolesen,
Well your right about "#1"

If say BOS/NYC/MIA/LAX/SFO were to tell AA to "stick the OT up their A$$", then the work would get sent to "3" different stations/Amt Bases.(Where the "Good ol' Boys" will come through for AA with FLYING COLORS)

I'll give you 3 guess's where they'd send it.

(Heres a lil' hint. One station begins with the letter..T, another with an...A, and the third, with an...M)

(Do you think you might guess all 3) ? 🙄
