i dont have a copy of the union contract yet since i'm a new hire but i was wondering...for part-timers, is the minimum hours to work a day really 6 hours?

No, the minimum that can be assigned is 3 hours depending on the station. You can go to CWA Website and get the info firsthand.
We currently have 4-6 1/2 hour shifts in my station. It will probably depend on your city, the manager, and his ability to make a schedule.

They also have the ability to split your p/t shifts. You can work 3 hours have a 2 hour break and then work 2 more hours and get paid for 5 hours.

That sounds awful! Is that the rule, or the exception?
It's happened in SEA. Trust me, it's very unpopular with both p/t and f/t. Part timers feel like they are working 8 hour shift (because where can you go on a 2 hour break) and full timers feel like a full time shift was being taken away from them.

We have 5.5 hr shifts.
1) 1/2 hr UNPAID BREAK

2) = 5.0 hr shifts..

Less Money for the employees.MORE BONUS for the STA MGR!

it is being discussed by the neg. committee....it is a hot topic..right now if you are not a seamless service city than u fall under awa "rules"...currently we only have a lunch if we are scheduled 6 plus hours...
