Andersen DEFINITELY makes one (strongly) think of NW.
Maybe just maybe, glen tilton knows this WELL, and is working behind the scenes(leaking info to the press), so UAL does'nt get left out.
DL IS fairly interested in doing a deal, that we know.
UAL is DESPERATE to do a deal, that we know
LCC is DESPERATE to do a deal. What we ALL know, is that NONE of the true legacy's AA/UA/DL/CO/NW will touch them with a ten foot pole(East coast shuttle the exception)
Two MAJOR things will drive "SOMETHING",......... Importantly,...$$$ Oil,................................... and MOST Importantly, BIG BUSINESS Bush, will be "leaving the building soon.(THANK GOD IN HEAVEN).
If Spring 2008 dawns (3/21/08) and there is no paperwork filed with the Feds/wall st........NOTHING will happen.
If my calculations are correct, we'll know within the next 120 days.
Ref: NEVER .....never ever say NEVER in a merger you have no control over.The politicos will do some posturing but they do not have too much control over the issue. The DL US merger did not occur because the majority of creditors did not go for it.
The DOJ, is under the purview of the exectuive office not congress. Congress love to hold hearings but very little comes out of them that the president cannot usually trump.
Besides a UA/DL merger would never shutdown the ATL hub.
They make it seem like ATL would be the next PIT.
NHBB, UAL isn't desperate to do a deal, Tilton, is desperate to do a deal, especially after his wife is taking him to the bank in the messy divorice, due to the wacker drive secretary wearing short minis.. LOL LOL!!!! Quite frankly, I think it hillarious how everyone talks of UAL being so desperate, that is VERY naive... UAL wants to do a deal that is for sure, only b/c Tilton wants to cash out.. We are fine on our own as well, you should know we outperformed AA last quarter by producing twice the profit with much fewer a/c... Also LCC may be the stepchild, but financially they are in a much better position than DAL and NWA and AA and CAL... Call yourself a true legacy if you will, because the ghost of TWA will always be with you, lets just hope AA doesn't become a true "legacy" like TWA <_< ... You know what they say, what "What goes around goes around comes all the way back around".. Also, if DAL and NWA merge, you will see UAL and CAL merge, leaving AA in a sore spot. We will see how it plays out, I would look for USAIRWAYS to buy some assets if DAL and UAL merge.

Actually beauty,.....what would be "poetic Justice" would be a "Consummated Marrige" between the two "BK-11 QUEENS"................LCC........(and "you know who") ....UAL !!!!!!!!!!!!
Bankruptcy ?????
What is Bankruptcy anyway ??????
<_< ----- Hey Bears! What do you think of a Delta/AA thing?Andersen DEFINITELY makes one (strongly) think of NW.

Thats right NHBB - it wouldn't bother me one bit.. At least it wouldn't be a marriage with a bunch of nasty super 80s at AA, now that would be horrible... BK is BK, you sure didn't get a prize for not filing did you now? And lets not forget - the game is still not over, if AA files now - it will be much harder to come out of BK.. Why do you think DAL and NWA both went in before the change of the law??? Trust - Arpeys got your pension on a negotiating platter and is getting ready to put it in play for some concessions... Don't forget oil is not going down, your planes aren't geting more fuel efficient, and your employees are topping out.. With some of the highest labor costs in the industry. Your in a great spot NHBB... LOL![]()
It might also be worth considering that AA has a 0.81 cent/ASM cost advantage to UA, despite those higher employee costs.....not to mention a 0.23 cent/ASM passenger revenue advantage.Talking about who's in a better position, consider this;
