Pardus Management takes merger to shareholders...

Wonder if Pardus was listening when Congress grilled Anderson about the merger rumors? Don't think Washington, controlled by the Democrats or Republicans, is too keen on America's No. # 2 and 3 airline merging. If they want to push Delta towards a viable partner, they should quit wasting their energy on United and push for Northwest. Would seem to be easier getting approved by the the authorities.

Andersen DEFINITELY makes one (strongly) think of NW.

Maybe just maybe, glen tilton knows this WELL, and is working behind the scenes(leaking info to the press), so UAL does'nt get left out.

DL IS fairly interested in doing a deal, that we know.
UAL is DESPERATE to do a deal, that we know
LCC is DESPERATE to do a deal. What we ALL know, is that NONE of the true legacy's AA/UA/DL/CO/NW will touch them with a ten foot pole(East coast shuttle the exception)

Two MAJOR things will drive "SOMETHING",......... Importantly,...$$$ Oil,................................... and MOST Importantly, BIG BUSINESS Bush, will be "leaving the building soon.(THANK GOD IN HEAVEN).

If Spring 2008 dawns (3/21/08) and there is no paperwork filed with the Feds/wall st........NOTHING will happen.

If my calculations are correct, we'll know within the next 120 days.

The politicos will do some posturing but they do not have too much control over the issue. The DL US merger did not occur because the majority of creditors did not go for it.

The DOJ, is under the purview of the exectuive office not congress. Congress love to hold hearings but very little comes out of them that the president cannot usually trump.

Besides a UA/DL merger would never shutdown the ATL hub.

They make it seem like ATL would be the next PIT.

NHBB, UAL isn't desperate to do a deal, Tilton, is desperate to do a deal, especially after his wife is taking him to the bank in the messy divorice, due to the wacker drive secretary wearing short minis.. LOL LOL!!!! Quite frankly, I think it hillarious how everyone talks of UAL being so desperate, that is VERY naive... UAL wants to do a deal that is for sure, only b/c Tilton wants to cash out.. We are fine on our own as well, you should know we outperformed AA last quarter by producing twice the profit with much fewer a/c... Also LCC may be the stepchild, but financially they are in a much better position than DAL and NWA and AA and CAL... Call yourself a true legacy if you will, because the ghost of TWA will always be with you, lets just hope AA doesn't become a true "legacy" like TWA <_< ... You know what they say, what "What goes around goes around comes all the way back around".. Also, if DAL and NWA merge, you will see UAL and CAL merge, leaving AA in a sore spot. We will see how it plays out, I would look for USAIRWAYS to buy some assets if DAL and UAL merge.

You must have been on leave for the last quarter...and must be unable to read the CURRENT financials.

Fuzzy math out does reality.

Google airline margins, pretax profit, then come back and edit the above reference to LCC as it compares to DAl, NW ($402m pre tax. $3.2b in the kitty, and a stellar profit margin), CO, AMR.

Ref: NEVER .....never ever say NEVER in a merger you have no control over.

Thats right NHBB - it wouldn't bother me one bit.. At least it wouldn't be a marriage with a bunch of nasty super 80s at AA, now that would be horrible... BK is BK, you sure didn't get a prize for not filing did you now? And lets not forget - the game is still not over, if AA files now - it will be much harder to come out of BK.. Why do you think DAL and NWA both went in before the change of the law??? Trust - Arpeys got your pension on a negotiating platter and is getting ready to put it in play for some concessions... Don't forget oil is not going down, your planes aren't geting more fuel efficient, and your employees are topping out.. With some of the highest labor costs in the industry. Your in a great spot NHBB... LOL :lol:

<_< ----- Hey Bears! What do you think of a Delta/AA thing? :shock:

Jesus,

Don't let facts get in the way of your thinking beauty.
Oil prises are starting to retreat(although it will take a bit longer for gas prises to reflect it)

NOW,..beauty;

Talking about who's in a better position, consider this;

(although I don't think it will happen this way)..WHAT happens to UAL if they don't do a deal ??(Tilton divorce, or NO Tilton divorce)

You won't find too many people, who would trade a present spot with AA, for a present spot with UAL, thinking in terms of how the respective airlines have fared these last 25 years !!!

(If you like, I could E-mail you a monthly copy of my DEFINED BENEFIT retiree check) 🙄 🙄

You bring up a great point BB.
UAL made a ton of money last quarter. This was in spite of its management team not because of it.
UAL, on its current course is going to be in trouble. It did nothing in BK but dump employee pensions and slash pay. It did not alter the way UAL flies at all. Tilton did not even address TED while in BK!

The good management teams in this industry know that consolidation is coming. They also know that they have positioned their airline to be strong enough to weather the next storm and pick up the pieces after it blows thru. It is the management teams that keep screaming to anyone that will listen, and are beholden to the money men (aka hedge funds) that they NEED to do a deal that would scare me.
