As a Muslim, I fully understand respect of our religion by visiting US officials and I applaud that respect. Had Speaker Pelosi worn the Hijab inside a Mosque, this would have indicated respect but for Pelosi to wear it on the streets of Damascus all the while she is sitting with the self-imposed Baschar al-Assad who has come to symbolize oppression and one of the reasons why women are forced to wear the Hijab as they turn to religion to express their freedom is a statement of submittal not only to oppression but also to lack of women's rights in the Middle East.

Terrorist Go ga-ga over Nancy Pelosi... :mf_boff:

What do you think of your President "taking advantage" of a loophole and appointing an Ambassador despite the fact that he lacked the Senate votes needed to confirm him? Does this not bother you at all? I mean...when one man dictates against the will of the elected representatives, is he any better than a terrorist?

Yep, that is what 'he' is elected to do.
Your 'terrorist' analogy is way out of context and you should be ashamed of yourself. :p

Tell Mama to get a head scarf, it's getting chilly around here...

No it did'nt just slip my mind and I say Shame on them as well, However Pelosi is third in line to Lead this Nation (God Forbid) if something very unfortunate were to happen.

She is very vocal with her disgust with our President and this war, and for her to travel to a known Terrorist state and caudle the enemy saying God knows what behind closed doors in my mind is treasonous.

And yet you have no idea what was said behind closed doors by either party do you? Considering that W’s approval rating is somewhere in the 30’s I would say that s Pelosi is in quite good company. Given that she is 3rd in line, I would argue that she has every right and every reason to be involved in the future of this country especially if Bush is going to allow (by not condemning them as he has condemned Pelosi) he boys to go over and say god know what and promise god know what to them. After all, Regan traded arms for hostages so who knows what the republicans would promise to make this go away. They do have their political careers to worry about.

Perhaps you posted the wrong link? I did not see a deal being offered. She said that Israel was interested in peace talks. She did not indicate any change on policy on Israel’s part.

Perhaps if the current administration would try and open up dialogs (like even Kissenger suggested) the speaker of the house would not feel compelled to do so. Bush has isolated this country. When seeking world help, that would seem to be counter productive.

Isolation has worked so well. Cuba has been a democracy for decades now. China is a close ally … Yes, it has worked well.

When any member of Congress goes to a foreign country, with the intent of meddling in foreign affairs, without the express authority/permission of the executive branch they are exceeding their powers as provided in the Constitution.

Many people think that the checks and balances as provided in the constitution are only applicable to the president... but it cuts both ways. We cannot have an 'imperial' congress.

Our founding fathers explained that the transaction of business with foreign nations is Executive altogether. It belongs then to the head of that department except to such portions of it as are specially submitted to Congress.

Specifically, the Constitution basically gives the president all the power in foreign affairs except the few limited exceptions in the Constitution. Those few exceptions include Congress' authority in the making of treaties and the power of the legislature to declare war; but they ought not to extend those exceptions further than is essential to the execution of those transactions.

Unless I am missing something... Pelosi has not attempted to do either of those listed exceptions.

IT does indeed cut both ways...but when the president seems hell bent on an imperial presidency...it might take an imperial congress to get his attention.
