PFAA has determined that it has no choice but to take legal action in defense of its members' constitutional right to participate in the collective bargaining process. A civil complaint (04-CV-5077) has been filed today in the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota.
The dispute arises from Northwest's insistence that Flight Attendant member-observers be excluded from the collective bargaining process.
Northwest asserts that it has a right under the Railway Labor Act to exclude its Flight Attendants from negotiations relating to an agreement that governs their working lives. We earnestly hope that an American court will reject the company's view.
