Phantom benefit... has anyone used a pass this summer?

i will admit this summer has been more difficult, but its possible. I've had friends get on oversold flights using buddy passes!

Just have to avoid the Hub-to-hub flights and get creative... I've had to do my share of PHX-city-LAS-Florida flying... I think the US/YV employees in ELP, TUS, and FAT know me on a first name basis by now!

Yeah, I got stuck in PDX on a flight that was suppose to be "wide open".

Southwest came through with a $30 pass later that night.

Forget about non-reving anymore.

Sure, I've non-reved. On B6 and UA! Sure, I have a lower boarding status then their own people, but they have more flights and bigger (non express) planes. Once on board, more comfortable seats, better snacks. And TV or Channel 9.

I think airline employees are crazy to consider pass riding a significant benefit, barring special circumstances. But generally, it's a scam. I haven't been bothering to fly this summer on my own dime, cuz it's so unpleasant. I think that LCC is trying to market to me as one of their non-business occasional flyers. But it's not going to work if spending time with LCC is going to be so unpleasant. So, I'm actually flying significantly less, just because it's so ugly.

I used to think 37 years with the company was enough to fly anywhere. That is until I retired. Now I'm at the bottom of the list....thanks AW! I was trying to non-rev from XNA to TYS yesterday. No sweat getting out of XNA. CLT to TYS was another story. It was impossible. Fortunately I had NW ZED passes from XNA-MEM-TYS. Those flights filled up also but NW sent me through DTW then home. They were absolutely wonderful to me.
I noticed in XNA, US Airways has the least number of flights. CO, UA, AA, NW, DL, all have more flights. Especially on weekends. We run one flight on Sunday.
For a town that is home base to the world's largest retailer, US Airways looks ridiculous.

Dunno, but the 830pm flt. CLT-tys had about 8 non-revs get on and 2 seats open when it left....

You forget that DoUgIe and Baby Kirby are emmulating Walmart in any way, shape, and form! they're probably hanging out at the Walmart exec's homes on the weekend, so no need for flights on the weekend!

The 8:30 flight had seats open but the XNA-Clt arrived at 9:35. The 10:25 to TYS had 54 of 50 booked with 12 non-revs.
