I know some folks who transitted PHL on Sat. Surprise, surprise their checked bags didn't arrive with them. Now it's Weds and they still don't have them back and what they're hearing is that there's a big backlog of lost luggage at PHL.

What are their chances?

no fear, the non english speaking guest workers will soon be here to take those low paying jobs, i mean really whats the difference between picking fruit and throwing bags? heck we already let non A&P mechanics who have no comprehension of the english language twist wrenches on U.S. commercial jets  dont believe me? go visit any third party FBO.

I have a question on lost luggage, since I carry on my own that is one problem I don't have.

Last Thursday my 80 year old mother flew PVD-PHL-SFO, and her luggage did not arrive with her. It is now Sunday night, no luggage, and se is leaving Monday morning SFO-PHL-PVD.

What kind of compensation should she expect from the airline for four days without luggage to attend a wedding. And if they never find her bag from the black hole in PHL what type of compensation should she expect for a lost bag. No valuable in the bag, nor meds.

thank you for any input

When you want to gamble, I'd suggest Vegas instead of checking luggage on an route that crosses PHL.

I do "carryon only" on LCC metal.

For the last 20 years, US has NEVER placed a high priority on luggage arriving with the customers. It has always felt it more important to push the airplane off the gate, than pay much attention to the baggage. Especially thru PHL, arriving with your checked baggage is a gamble. As far as the company is concerned, it's just part of the cost of doing business there. I have never flown with my personal baggage checked. It's not worth the time and effort to wait days for it's arrival. If it doesnt fit in my carry on, I dont take it, even on trips to Europe. I can always find a place to wash my clothes if needed. Just my opinion, but most folks take way too much with them anyway.
