I checked the Philly arrival board from 5:30pm to the last arrival and there were 48 cancellations. The departure board after 6pm showed 21 cancellations. The only other airline that showed a cancellation was American which canceled only one flight.
We're operating one hell of an operation.

Its US DAILY........why do you seem so SURPRISED? Outraged at this point.

Yes you see all those cancellations but it is THE airport to connect folks through don't you know? With PHL having AAAAALL that O&D you'd think we'd be able to filter SOME of those folks through another city or overfly PHL entirely. So many talk about how much PHL brings in but certainly can NEVER give you a figure of how much it costs USairways to hub there either.

We had 2 afternoon cancellations to PHL yesterday (well one was really a 2pm flight that left and came back about 6pm and canx). (Total 3 canx and 3 misconx flights from 4pm-730pm)
Surprisingly, nothing canx today, although they were late so the conx all missed (only about half the plane) with nothing to BUF/ALB/SYR, etc until late tomorrow night. You'd think it was spring break. Noticed that they had already canx some of the Express flights early in the day (about 2pm) and PHL-AVP canx everything after about 2pm and several other cities canx remainder of day as well.
Almost everything DC north had some sort of ATC program in effect at one time or another today. Just another wonderful (tstorm) day in the NE.

^^^^^^Another reply from an "experience" operations specialist - I assume

I fail to understand the relevance of your reply to the weather related cancellations at JFK, EWR, LGA, DCA, IAD and LESS SO at PHL today??? Where would you propose the PHL destination passengers fly to - EWR, LGA or JFK, or ?

PROFIT = REVENUE - COST AND PHL MAKES (much) MORE PROFIT THAN ANY OTHER AIRPORT IN THE SYSTEM. So I guess arm chair CEO experience suggests that US quit PHL because it's (US's) employees are unable to manage operations more efficiently during severe weather situations. Another brilliant suggestion.

Dont be so daft. The PHL customers need to get to PHL, HOWEVER, all the BUF/SYR/ROC/ALB/CLE/BOS/LGA/SWF/ISP/BDL/PVD/ELM/ITH/BGM (and any others I left out) customers really DONT want to go to PHL. I'm sure you've heard it at check in (do you have something other than thru PHL?) Those are the customers that we're discussing when we say limit the PHL HUB. HUB being the operative word. If PHL is the $ maker on O&D, have at it, but move/leave off the conx as much as possible to other cities or rework the schedule. This opens up 2 possibilities, less delays in PHL (due less airplanes) and a better operation since you arent trying to funnel anyone and everyone thru a hub that on most days is minimal and on "good days" like yesterday is a cluster. PIT might not be the answer, but you know theres a problem when a customer takes a flight getting in later not conx in PHL than a shorter flight with a conx in PHL.

You didn't mention the PHL weather. A line of thunderstorms impacted operations starting about 3PM.

New York Severe Weather Avoidance Plan and PHL Ground Stops may have had a great deal to to with the CNX.

How many were Mainline vs Express?

sky high states: DING, DING, DING, We have a winnner, Johnny! SEVERE WEATHER passed through PHL, EWR, LGA, JFK last night. Local news mentioned ground stops at all airports. Thunder and lightning was intense.

only stating opinions

That was like CLT yesterday!!!!!!!!

Yes! I can honestly say that over that last 4-6 months I have watched a once really great run operation in CLT go down the f'in drain!

Is it me? Or does it just seem like nobody gives a #### about getting any flights out on time!

Hiring people and paying the Mickey D wages!! You pay peanuts and you get a bunch of clowns! And what we get on the express ramp are folks that like to push 20 million dollar airplanes into each other!

CLT has really turned into a 'turd' of an operation!! In some ways its total entertainment..... in other ways just plain SAD.

Still don't produce any figures though hmmmmm. I'm not diputing the fact that PHL makes money for US but OBVIOUSLY where else would we go? I understand that. EVERY other major city if desire is taken. I don't think of myself as an armchair CEO. I merely have MY BELIEFS as to why things are the way they are. Don't F'n police me. If you don't like what I have to say then don't respond. You responded with nothing but OPINION anyway. NO HARD PROOF EITHER. Another Ahole here to add to the boards I see.
