😛h34r: PHL facilities are a mess. Dirty bag rooms and burned out light's just to mention a few. Dirty men's and ladies rooms, no soap no paper towels. We pay the rent and can't get the services.

I flew on US last week (first time in a long time) from PHL on a Staurday, early morning. B2 (I think that was the gate) is an absolute sty -- sticky, torn seats, ripped up stained carpet. Even the US Airways club (got in with my UA membership) was nothing to write home about. Seating looked well worn, bits of trash everywhere. Even bits of food everwhere (e.g., raisins that had rolled under the light stands). Remember, this was first thing Saturday am so this is how the cleaning crew left it.

Flew on a 737-400 up front. Nice empty cabin and good service (nice relief from 100% l.f.s). Wot no butter with the criossant? But the seats definitely looked old an icky, not enhanced with all the pen scribbles on the back of the seat in front -- looked like teenagers had been flying in there. (Never seen that on WN, despite the numbers of people they haul.)

I can definitely see what PB, Art, and the 'roaches have been complaining about. Time to start a 409 campaign again?

I hope Parker and co have an immediate impact on appearances.

Of course, if this is how it looks for the pax, I can't begin to guess what it's like for the staff.

Our dirty little secret.....I almost forgot about the crew room. Your in for a treat. Actually it represents what mgmt thinks of us and how they have treated there employees. That picture speaks a thousand words.
Goya, your too kind. Did you forget that most public bathrooms are in better shape? I'm talkin broken fixtures, doors on toilets, plugged toilets and sinks. Rooms and halls with broken ceiling tiles stained and hanging. Stains from water leeks and mold on walls. Stained, torn and smelly furniture. Its an old basement area. Computers that always need repair (save and print everything you do) Oh, ya if the printer works. The conditions are condemable.

Agree, absolutely disgraceful...including crewroom (B-6) (A is ok, so far).

I'm surprised the health department is involved, maybe they don't know?!

I'm not an agt in Phl,however, I can tell all what the gate area is LIKE in my city- ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING>
On Numerous times several of the agents have spoken to the station manager about this problem.
Carpet=Filthy.
Jetway doors,doorjams, inside jetway carpet=FILTHY
All working and NON WORKING phones, a mess, you are on a conversation, suddenly disconnected.
Static Line and I'm talking Army Static Line Gear.
Static, No cords from phones to receiver.

Boarding area seats, sliced in the seat area, seat handle's missing.
This is a PUBLIC embarassment!

His excuse no money in the budget.
How can there NOT BE?
Last week, carpet was 1/4 cleaned.

THERE IS BUDGET ALLOWANCE< SINCE IT HAS NOT BEEN USED>
I was NOT BORN LAST NITE..

No Cleaning= End of Year BONUS FOR STA MGR>>>

C'mon guys the agents.
ARE NOT STUPID>>>

welcome to PHL!! Hopefully the ex-America West management team can work some magic, but it will take money, not just a smiling face from a competent CEO. doug, help!!

Don't know how to break it to you but that is a typical ramper facility. Sounds like you are describing facilities at many AWA facilities. Let's just say I do the #2 in the passenger areas. They get cleaned alot more often. Don't have to worry about getting the creeping crud on your naughty bits.

looks like they are starting to fix things up . it looks like gate b6 is getting a makeover first. i saw a flat screen tv being hooked up.

I will not live LONG enough to see that DUMP improved. I challenge ANYONE to name a more deplorable airport in the USA..........major airline hub especially. Personally they should let Osama use it as a training site.............No Loss because obviously No One CARES. And as far as Gate B6, its clean (for now) but certainly nothing to jump up and down about.

What is (or was) the point of the elevated concourses in B and C at PHL? This elevation requires the ramps down to the jetways and takes up lots of floor space.

At the very least U should paint a gauge on the walls of the ramp to assist passengers to sort themselves by seat assignement, so as they're standing, they can arrange those in the back of the plane at the front of the line. You can call it the "Philly two-step" ior perhaps the "philly cluster ........ "

RowunderDCA,

You seem from previous post to be well informed. This one seems from like a person asking who has never flown.

Common ramp design throughout nearly everywhere. Provides gate with options to handle variety of aircraft sizes as well as multiple other factors for gate / ramp / pax.

This is why airlines board by zones/isles etc. Expecting given culture to change their personal boarding desires ( bag stowage ) based on " what is best for all " is naive at best.

Im not a very experienced frequent-flyer. I did assume that the gate design had something to do with either:

a) expected need for flexibility in accomodating larger planes, but then that seemed unlikely because so much of the ramp is too cramped to accomodate large aircraft

B) a design that could accomodate international quarantine.

My comment on inducing cooperative social behavior among American airline passengers was more ironic than serious.
