What's new

Piedmont Airlines

I just hope that the Piedmont employees realize they are one of the most expensive regional airlines out there. So if a union is promising everyone a "huge" raise you need to think twice about that one. Look at the fleet plan for Piedmont. The airline had like 70 Dash 8's at one point, correct? But to date, there are, 45?

PSA was USAirways Group's way of keeping station costs lower SOLELY because of the contract. I find it interesting that after 4 or 5 years of negotiating they get a new contract and then PSA has to convert all stations to PDT.

PSA agents may have won the battle, but they lost the war.

i believe that PI has 55 DASHes they would have had more of the bigger planes had they kep Allegheny Dash but instead the majority of them are the 100 series

Prince,

are they allowing flow-thru to mainline for open CSS, CS, and Ramp Service positions for those in PIT?

I thought that was one of the benefits to working at JS / EN.

I only mention this because in my station alone we had 2 agents come in as transfers from mainline and they kept *everything* but pay... their longevity was converted to the payscale. I hated getting on the same flights as these 2 employees & their family members... 1983 / 1985 hires!

"Not a big fan of express agents being in the CWA management loves to whipsaw the two workgroups/airlines. The CWA wants the express agents unionize and the company wants to express mainline work."

Actually, over the last 2 years since the merger, exercises were done in regards to ALL Mainline vs the Mainline / Express split operations in $$$ dollars - wise. AIRWAYS continues to save MILLIONS with the current model of HUB and FOCUS cities, along with the many field cities that split above wing and below wing duties. The exception was PIT and that is why Mainline is absorbing the Entire operation there. AIRWAYS Wholly ownes PDT and PSA and if they "wanted the work" they could and would have taken the work and redistributed it as they saw fit !

Are you saying that it's cheaper for mainline to work express aircraft in PIT? The way the sentence is written suggests that's what you mean.

You better look at the CWA agents contract. CWA has fault long and hard to kept mainline work but the company tries ever tactic in the book to outsource/express

Well the ramp agents at PI are now unionized from what i have been told. hopefully there will be a good contract soon

Well, good for you! You should have a good union, as I am a member of CWA as well. However, you need to go back to new hire. PI is the old code for the "REAL" Piedmont Airlines, founded by Mr. Tom Davis. Your carrier code is EN, for HENSON Airlines. Keep trying, you might make it to the "big show" one of these days.

The the mechanics at EN were IAM, they are now IBT, pilots are ALPA, FAs are AFA, the Dispatchers are IBT and the stock clerks are non-union.

Once again YV you have no idea of what you speak about.

So the IAM represents no one at Piedmont.

Don't let the facts get in your way!

Just stating what I HEARD from Piedmont Human Resources...Don't shoot the Messenger 700UW...I'm just a lowly ** year old college student trying to get by...

I am not shooting the messenger if you read the thread instead of posting misinformation from EN you would see the CWA is organize them.

I posted to you what union represents who at EN and the IAM is not one of them.

Your first mistake is believing anything from HR.
