I do not know enough about the case or the science behind transgender but I would think a prisoner deserves treatment based on medical necessity. What that is would have to be determined on a case by case basis by medical professionals.

There is medical science to back up trans gender sex changes. There are some folks who genetics are mixed up. I remember reading an article (national geographic I think) that was talking about the chromosomes being outnof wack. There are folks whos bodies are just confused or Lucknow a better description.

In cases like that medical necessity seems to be a viable argument.
