Johnny:

This provision is provided for in the ALPA restructuring agreement and is likely to incrementally occur as turboprops are replaced with RJs. US expects to quickly ramp up RJs with 230 of the small jets added to the US Express network within the next three to four years.

The good news for Express employees is that MDA will operate 70 and 76-seat RJs and when fully developed, US Group could take MDA public with an IPO like CO did with CO Express for an equity cash infusion.

In the case of the pilot group, the wholly owned pilots will have a flow through provision to the mainline with MDA eventually becoming the entry level position.

Word is strong that Mid Atlantic is taking over all 3 of our Express Carriers, and is going to offer the employees jobs that furloughed mainline employees don''t fill, has anyone else heard anything definate?

A question a great many Express Hub employees have. New rumors circulate daily as to the fate of customer service agents as well as ramp. Now that Hub CSAs will be brought in under the CWA agreement, who will the ramp agents be working for? How many current Express CSAs will retain their positions under the new plan? How about seniority? When will the change take place? Will MDA be the only wholly owned?

Hpmcpatton:

Hpmcpatton asked: Chip has your inside sources told you this or are you speculating from your read of the ALPA contract?

Chip answers: Hpmcpatton, the ALPA contract under Job Opportunities - Mid-Atlantic Airways states, All MDA positions will be filled first by US Airways pilots, followed next by pilots from the Participating Wholly-Owned Carriers on the Participating Wholly-Owned Carrier Pilot List, followed by new-hire pilots.

We are obviouly comparing apples and oranges. I was refering to express employees as in the customer svc and ramp employees of Piedmont, Allegheny, and PSA. You were obviously talking about express employees as the CWA employees reclassified at mainline.
