Question for the West

Easties beware, this is an example of Ms. Shambles and her management style. If fear and intimidation don't
get the results they want, then they will manufacture what they need to send you off into the sunset.
It's sickening.
The only one worse is Ms. Bureson and let's not forget the always lovely Ms. Merl.
Their experience as reservations agents has taught them all they need to know about our jobs as flight
attendants. America West spared no expense in finding the right people to supervise a large base
of flight attendant's. Yep, they made sure to get people that have no f'n clue what we do in our job. I'm
guessing that part will not come as a shock to anyone in the east. Many of you already know that NO ONE in Tempe
has a clue.

Imagine if they would put their energy in to fixing the trash problems in the east and the catering mess effecting us all? Nah,
witch hunts are much more fun. I can hear them now "Double, double, toil and trouble; Fire burn and cauldron bubble".

Welcome to our nightmare. 🙁

Ms Shambles will learn the true meaning of fear and intimidation when she tries to pull that kind of nonsense over here.
I believe the vast majority of our flight attendants can do their job without some clueless maroons threatening them daily.
If I respect my supervisors they get as much cooperation as my union contract allows, a positive attitude when with passengers and a job well done.
Do you think we can respect a supervisor that doesn't have any idea what this job is really like?

I'm fairly confident that game won't play here on the east.

<SNIP> Ms Shambles will learn the true meaning of fear and intimidation when she tries to pull that kind of nonsense over here.
2clippedwings, I was waiting for someone to bring this up.

If some of the clowns out west are thinking that the east FAs are scared of the Boogeyman, they are in for a rude awakening.

First, an honest disclaimer: It is true that not every one called in has been innocent, but as this mess drags on it is
beginning to get stupid.

Some innocent people are being railroaded by a few incompetent and clearly dumb inflight supervisors.
It cracks me up how these inflight supervisors, who have NEVER flown the line, NEVER used Maestro to bid, and
have NEVER, NOT ONCE processed drop/pickup or a trip trade on the ETB can claim to know exactly
what FA's are doing when they are using the system. How can they detect "abuse" when the don't even
know how to even use the system themselves. One person figures out how to manipulate/hack the
system and suddenly FA's with ZERO history of ANY disciplinary or availability issues are guilty purely by
associaton.

Very few are innocents in this matter and all AWA flight attendants know the abuses that occured with F/As who understood Maestro all too well. That one person or few persons who actually did the transactions on the system were working as Bookies for alot of other flight attendants who also knew that that it was unethical and possibly illegal.

And of course you don't have any disciplinary or availability problems when you are getting the exact schedule and trips you want through system manipulation.

They are casting the net wide because the actual Hackers were working for a larger and arrogant group with a gross sense of entitlement. Even though they must know that the computer tracks every single transaction that everyone makes, they thought that no one would take the time to sift through all of the data tracks and analyze who were the actual beneficiaries of each one....surprise! It is not a matter of Maestro deficiencies or supervisor stupidity at all. It is like any other embezzelment, it starts small but greed eventually pushes it to a point where it gets discovered. I would say that there is where the stupidity lies.

It is no different from the rampers in Philadelphia who were entering phony overtime in the system. Same mentality and the penalty should be the same. Actually worse than PHL because they directly ripped off their co-workers. No sympathy.

It is a matter of supervisor stupidity, they have no idea what they are talking about. Why is it guilty till proven innocent around here? You speak in such a management tone there Sharon Stone! What a way boost morale!

I had an unscheduled layover in PHX and got the sit around in the "ready reserve" room for a while -- there is wireless internet service there!!. I got to look at Maestro (sp?) and the West reserves got to look at CATCREW. In my limited opinion, Maestro lets you do a lot more with your schedule (if you know the back doors), BUT, CATCREW gives you a lot more information -- albeit in a not so pretty format. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe that West reseves can monitor when trips open, which trips open, when they are covered, and where they are on the daily (or future) list to be called. CATCREW is old and ugly, but it gives invaluable information to support pay claims when schdueling makes a mistake (which we all know is seldom ;-) )

I've been saying pretty much the same thing. Catcrew has loads of info that keeps scheduling honest. Very transparent.
It is a strictly business format, which fine by me. I don't need bells and whistles.

Rampage is putting it mildly. More like a witch hunt. Halloween has come early to the PHX base and the
witches on their brooms in full force.

completely sure of themselves that they will never admit they don't really understand Maestro or it's data.
We in the west know that Maestro is perfect, never breaks down, never kicks people out. Nope its 100%
perfect and infallable. Right guys? 🙄 Therefore, Maestro's data should be used as the sole basis
to determine if one gets fired or not. I suspect that will go over real well in a court case.

You are partially right: While, Melody, Jerry, Linda is from Reservation, the majority of the "on hand supervisors" are former F/as. They sure were subjected all the whimps of Maestro, supervisors including Ms.Chambline. Hence, please report issues more factuarily.

No, this isn't even grey area or a he said she said scenario that has room for interpretation. And it is not a matter at all of what the superivsors know, it is about what the IT people found in the computer records. and those are hard code facts Jack.

My tone, could be I am one of your co-workers that can't understand why the line holding, highest paid Flight Attendants with the best schedules and the most flexibility felt that they were entitled to more. I know that did wonders for my morale.

But you may have played into managements hands and changed my life for the better at the same time. This incident illustrates that senior line holders see themselves as seperate from the reserves and that the playing field should be evened out to avoid this type of elitism in the future. Rotating reserve anyone?

CATCREW is one of the few tools that works very well for us. I can access it at all hours, and it gives me accurate information in real time. We have taken it for granted. If Tempe tampers with CATCREW, they will surely hear from the EAST.

So, your real agenda comes out. You hate reserve and blame lineholders for your situation.

Getting back to reality, if the computer system has holes, publicize and correct the software. Conducting witch hunts to make up for really bad management is the topic and seems to be a "feature" of F/A west, especially when correcting alleged character defects on the fly. Those responsible for the apparent witch hunt seem to avoid mirrors, at all costs.

No matter who is right or wrong on this specific issue one thing I have noticed from the outside looking in is that the InFlight folks on the West seem to complain about this type of thing on a regular basis.

That said I'm waiting for the likes of Ms Shamblin to try that west management style on the East. Folks you can't buy that kind of entertainment. IMO SHamblin and her staff will end up the business equivelent of the Old Country Buffet and the East F/A's will be dining for free.

Oh!! It will be more like the "Barbarians at the Gate!!" Snarl...

Not at all, reserve structure is an agreement reached by contract and we all have the opportunity to participate in contract approval. What I don' t like is those who have better circumstances being unethical. You would be first one to scream for someone's head on a platter if Inflight or above was caught manipulating the system for convenience or money in their pockets.

Stop blaming others for the fact that these folks are dishonest. Blaming management for the holes in the system is like telling a shop owner that you stole from his store but it is his fault because he had product out on the shelves. Childish. If you want to get into character defects...why did lineholders take to time to find the holes in the system and use it to their advantage rather than inform IT? Yeah, teamplayers at their best.

My original sentiment still stands...no sympathy. They made their choice.

No, I did not make a judgement about those taking advantage of the "holes", yet. Unlike you, and a few other mental defectives, I will await due process before impugning fellow employees.

There are ways to conduct administrative investigations and ways not to. AWA management seems to like to take the "not to" path, unless their buddy is involved. The criticism is solely for what has happened so far.

Taking steps to eliminate potential loopholes should be treated as a management function. To punish those who take advantage of vulnerabilities is really stupid from a security standpoint, which emphasizes the "us vs them" mentality that cripples the US daily operation. It tends to silence potential whistleblowers.

Besides. What took the "managers" so long to figure it out? Perhaps they were taking advantage of the system in a similar manner, until someone blew the whistle? Perhaps US should have a full investigation?

No doubt sharktooth!

And these so called "IT people" that are looking in to the alleged transactions? There is only one IT person involved, the other is a management person from scheduling. These Maestro loopholes were repeatedly told to inflight as well as Mike Finn and his merry band of schedulers. They KNEW that Maestro had some serious flaws. The da*m program has never run consistently well for the FA's, and the company thinks it runs flawlessy for them? C'mon now. What really irritates me about this whole Maestro witch hunt is that the company knew and wouldn't spend the money to fix it, so in the end the majority of the PHX based work group had to suffer with critical staffing and loss of flexibility. Let's not forget the innocent ones that have been called in and almost railroaded. Pathetic way to manage a work force.

The company, with this latest witch hunt, has ensured an "us vs. them" mentality in the west. Let's not even go in to all the inflight supervisors that are so disgusted with the way the department is run by Mrs. Fry and her side kick Melody that they are trying go get out like rats from a sinking ship.
