CLT Local F/A Meeting.... and questions for Crew Schd.

Gotcha.

For some reason I wasn't grasping what stance you were taking. I blame my toddler who kept me up all night for my foggy brain.

My god woman, a toddler AND a constantly ringing phone for botched transatalntic flights? How on earth do you make it through the night?

I'd like an answer to that question too... why do they let trips 'sit there' until morning?

And what are "possible" trips? Blockholders in the process of organizing thier days so they are just so?

I think Future "clocks out" at about 6 or 7 and then leaves the rest to Daily or Midnight scheduling to handle.
I could be wrong but I'd love for a scheduler to address this in this forum.

Any takers?? 😱

Well I for one would like to know if the FAA considers us an being on-dut when we are on call, the what's up with being on call for 24hrs a day. Technically if I am on-duty @ midnight.. and I can only be schedule for up to a 15 hr duty day...then my day reguardless of what trip I may get from daily should be over by 5pm.

Lets see the FAA enforce that like they do the 24/7. We should have shifts for rsv like every other airline. And if we need to use the FAA to do it.. I don't mind sending them a letter.

Interesting point. Which is why I've said in previous posts why we should go back to going on and off duty at 15:00. I've caught a lot of flack over it too.

You don't run into these problems with the reserve group going on and off duty at 15:00. No one should be going on duty at MIDNIGHT. That's nuts. It's insane.

Blah, I don't like going on/off at 1500 it made me nuts. Why should I be punished because scheduling doesn't do their job and/or is understaffed.

I took this idea to the MEC meeting last spring but they shot it down because they said the company will not address the crappy RSV system because they want to use it for leverage in negotiations....so it was never even presented to the company.....

It makes sense to me that this might give us a little more flexibility until we get a new system/joint contract and I think it would help the company w/ coverage too. Most people I talk to think it's a good idea....anyone have any thoughts ? Agree/Disagree?

Concept:- Reserve “Will Flyâ€￾ List

After the B/H bid sheet is finished the list of AVL trips will be posted on option #44 as usual. In PIT,BOS,DCA and LGA the bid sheet is usually done by 12:30/13:00 at the latest. In PHL and CLT the sheet is usually done by 14:00.

When the last B/H is awarded their trip, any RSV can call in and put themselves on a “will flyâ€￾ list. They are given 30 minutes to call in their choices or can call in during the morning with a list or their parameters.

At 14:30, C/S begins to cover trips in LTO order FROM THE LIST. There is NO calling the RSV at home to ask what they want saving the company on long distance charges. In addition, B/H who now have up until 15:00 to take a trip left over would have to do so by 14:30.

The reason the trips are awarded in LTO order is so that the most senior RSVs cannot keep calling in and getting the good trips or OPR.

At 1500, if there are any trips left, the RSV LTO bucket coverage is started as usual. If no one has called in to put themselves on the “will flyâ€￾ list then the RSV coverage starts at 1500 as usual.

The list the RSV F/A left will stand until the next day unless the RSV removes themselves or are awarded a trip through the bucket system.

There should not be a huge cost to the company in having to add a program that puts a “will flyâ€￾ list in place. The C/S just puts on on a list in LTO order, not seniority order.

Advantages:
1) RSVs can make themselves AVL before the 1500 coverage starts if they want to fly in order to move to another bucket.
2) RSVs who are on duty for 5 days but need the 4th day off can fly a 3 day if it's available and HOPE that they will not get a trip however they will of course still be on duty.
3) RSVs may actually have more control over their lives. If they see that BOS is short, they choose to go on the “will flyâ€￾ list so they do not do an OOB trip. However if they actually WANT the DH over guarantee to and from base then they hold back and see if they can get one of the OOB trips for that reason.

The reason the trips are awarded in LTO order is so that the most senior RSVs cannot keep calling in and getting the good trips or OPR.

So, your saying there should be no senoirity among rsv's. Very interesting. Totally disagree, anything we do should be done by senoirity. Iv'e erned my 18+ years, just like the 35 year BH.

Face it, there are no junior RSVs. The reason I threw that in is because here in PIT, we have the same SR people who could hold SCDB but choose to bid RSV so they don't have to fly weekends. They start out the month doing OPR and that's all they do....it would be nice to see them go out and fly every once in a while.

PIT is a different animal than all the other bases. My thoughts are that PIT will eventually go away as a base. Just my thoughts. However, that being said, now you are feeling what most of us have felt for years. Funny to hear that from someone over 20 years. If the senior f/a's want to take OPR's all month, that is their choice. Do we limit the amount of International trips senior f/a's can take, NO. Do we make senior f/a's fly 90 hours per month, NO. Are you getting the point here. This is all new to you, so I don't expect you to really catch on this quickly. Try speding 18+ years on rsv, then we can probably see alittle more eye to eye. Hey, how about a rotating rsv system, BH's and our union would never go for it. Hey, I would like to see a BH do a 43 minute one day also. Only in Oz.

Certainly would be interesting to have a FFOCUS member to speak at the meeting in order to present the customer perspective.
What in the world would you know about the reserve system? Why would you think your input would have any value? Do you even know what it is? This is the most ridiculous thing you have ever said...

Thats okay sister..... your right, I dont get it. I have only been doing 53 min one days and 6 hour 3 day out of base quick calls for the past 2-1/2 yrs, w-t-h would I know ??????
So lets see, CLT is supposed to be open again in DEC and PIT will eventually go away in your opinion. Maybe I should start working on my commuting skills now by bringing my 21 yrs of inexperience down there so I can HOLD A PRIMARY LINE.
Thank you for enlightening me, and giving me incentive...perhaps we will fly together.

I would definitely say you should start working on your commuting skills, primary lineholder or not.... -_-

Sorry I had to be the one to break the news to yuns. I too was in PIT for a few years. Had a great time. Lots of great people. Come on down, we even gat get ya some IC light. The commute would probably be better here than to Philly. We have good BBQ here. Oh, and sorry to bring this news also, I'm not a sister.

Thanks for the invite---I know about the great BBQ as I was in GSO until the end of '90 and left a few months before they closed it....went North to PIT---didn't think they'd EVER close MECCA. You're right about the commute...there are WAY too many trying to get there from PIT. Heard they're having knock down drag outs at the gate in PIT during boarding --both at our gates and at SWA with everyone trying to get a seat. I have a lot to decide in the next few weeks when they announce more transfers.....it's still very sad though.
Moving on----did anyone go to the meeting ? Who was there and what was said ?????

SKY HIGH states: Soooo, what your saying is.......RESERVES are working the system to their benefit!
