What's new

Question...

Well they dont seem to implement any of our suggestions, so we may as well let them know we're on to thier game. My money is on the above scenario being what management has in mind- they are managing by mismanagement to achieve a predetermined outcome. We may not all have Harvard degrees but we can find the business section of a Barnes and Noble. We also know our airline history. This current cast of dopes thinks the employee group just fell off of the tomato truck.

I often wonder if by our posting our fears, what we think, or our guesses as to what is going to happen...are we really giving "the palace" ideas that they hadn't thought of. As we express our fears or thoughts, are they saying, "Oh-h-h-h-h! We haven't thought of that. That's a good idea! Let's assign someone to read this chat site daily for suggestions from the employees on how we can get them. This stuff is great!"
RedOne,
Excellent point, maybe they'll read the idea's about attempting to actually run the company. Also maybe they'll read the brilliant idea about dumping the dead weight at the top. Those goon's can all take a long walk from a short pier as far as most employees are concerned!

It stands for MidAtlantic Airways. Our new regional express carrier that Siegel thinks is the cure-all. You will also see it as MAA.

There have been many arguments on whether it is MDA or MAA. Truth of the matter is it IS BOTH.

It is just a matter of preference. Neither one is wrong.

MidAtlantic will operate dual- class EMB170s, with 70-80 seats. They are basically shorter Airbuses, more of a mainline product than an RJ. It will be staffed with the 40% of the company that has been laid off.

lightyears,
The seating is actaully 72 and one single class. I am not sure what the reasoning is/was, but the first class was nixed. Also, I am hearing that the EMB 175 is something that may never happen. So, it looks like it will be only the EMB 170 with 72 seats and 2 flight attendants. They are very nice looking planes though. Too bad it will be working for peanuts. If you are waiting to here of a call from MDA if believe you will here something by the end of next week.

Thanks Twicebaked... you seem to be our "MidAtlantic liasion", there are many on here looking for info and we apreciate it! 🙂

Wow, I hadn't heard about the nixing of first class. I thought that was a good idea, a good competitive tool against the smaller RJs of DL and CO, and of course the low-fare carriers. I seem to remember honest Dave saying the cost of the premium cabin was justified by the marketing advantage. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that they will be flown under the Express banner, or perhaps they'll be on routes competing with WN's 737s.

I'm not excited about the pay/benefits etc, but as an airplane nerd I'm excited about the EMB, I think its a really cool plane. I'm curious about our configuration. Are they leather seats or standard U seats? I heard they have adjustable headrests, not sure if that is happening. I'd also like to know if they will have running water in the lavs and coffee makers, or just coffee jugs.

The mystery continues...

First Class was nixed? Wow great move....now we really will have a superior product. 🙄 It just keeps getting better.

twicebaked,
Thanx for explaining the "code" (MDA)

Few more questions plz.
Since I've never heard of them,
are they flying now(if so when did they start) ??

Hubs ??

NHBB,

The hub is slated for PIT...a DL/CVG scenario of sorts.

Flying begines in Feb. 0f 04....training delays have shelved earlier attempts...along with Acft technical delays from EMB.

This is a holly Owned U operation...that will be void of the Express markings

Equipment EMB-175's and 190's

All current U labor groups on hand...at AE scales

Yes, the contracts will be American Eagle horrible wages.

MidAtlantic is a division of mainline NOT a wholly owned.
And NO, it will NOT be void of "Express" markings.

Everything that I have seen thus far has a label of Express even the planes are being painted with the Express logo. The 1L door (I believe it is that one) will say operated by MidAtlantic Airways.

Twice I’m not sure about the wages (not arguing with you) but I heard the wage rates were going to arbitration because they were actually below industry standard for the product. 😀

T-bone,
I believe youi are correct. I know that the AFA is working to get the flight attendant group a better wage (not much but better). I am not really sure about the other labor groups.

MDA

Management's Dumbass Airline?

Mostly Dave's Answer?

Medium Domestic Airline?

The possibilities are endless.
