This committee needs to be replaced ASAP.They are so out of touch with the membership that I do not see how we can trust their judgement any longer. For weeks we heard them tell us at the road shows how great this TA was and how we could not get anything better. They mailed to our homes a six page outline that did not even scratch the surface in explaining the TA. And when was the last time a union TA was posted on the company's website? You need to pull up the United AFA contract and compare it to the garbage we were presented with. Look at their scope clause. Look at the fact that they were given a $5000 signing bonus. Check out the fact that qualifying f/as were offered a $60,000 buy out. And read how their representatives explained to them that their raises were not going to be a tradeoff for their work rules. And we are talking about another AFA airline. After living under our current contract for seven years,if anybody deserves a signing bonus it's us. Now our reps are asking us what we want in a TA. It's a little late. What we want are new negotiators. And let's not rush back to the table so quickly. We need to have union meetings so we can thrash this whole thing out. I do not want to answer any questions from this union until they answer our questions first. We did it their way,now let's do it our way.

After the $5,000 signing bonus and the Buy out offer that UA TA was garbage as well . Don't kid yourself but yes , we do need new negotiators .

If the AFA is giving US FAs bottom of the pack pay why not go non-union? Clearly your negotiating team has let you down and its worthwhile considering alternatives.

It is all about negotiation. Do you negotiation contracts in your business or do you do business without contractual/agreements involvement

Yes except when I enter into negotiations for my clients I identify their needs and negotiate strategically to meet them as best I can. Clearly AFA doesn't which isn't surprising considering they receive dues money regardless. This is something Veda Shook, Sara Nelson and the other AFA phonies don't understand. How did the campaign for DL FAs to gain representation benefit existing members at AS, UA, US, and other AFA carriers? They are squandering membership resources and producing industry lagging contracts for which they should be ashamed.

US management must be laughing all the way to bank. Sure, let's all go take another survey about what we want. Then let's wait another 6 mos. for said survey to be analyzed, again. Then let's all go to 6 mos. of road shows. Then let's see what the mediator says. Then let's sit down with the company and rehash and renogiate all of the contract sections and viola it is the end of 2013. Then let's all go vote again in 2014. Hmmm....so I have now lost the average of $5000.00 per year I would have made. So our iluustrious AFA negotiators and leadership has cost me $10,000.00 while I blindly go along with this insanity. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

I recently tore the "Contract Now" tag off my bag in frustration. We had a contract negotiated for years on the table...this was to be the year we finally began to move forward. If our AFA leaders were so divided over this contract then why in the hell did they even put it up for a vote? Why did the mec's not even bother to get behind the negotiating committee and give a vote for recomendation? I guess they enjoy a good train wreck. The members are suffering and this crowd is so busy trying to prove a point that we are all going to be broke soon!

I could care less if Susy Flight Attendant gets to fly with her pilot boyfriend or husband and I am sooo tired of all this constant back and forth nonsense. How is anything going to change if nothing changes? Thanks for letting me vent.

Aren't you too busy striping IAM members of seniority protection and squandering dues money?

Josh
Arent you too busy kicking old ladies out of their houses and profiting from inside information and ruining employees lives with M&A activity?

And why dont you finally recognize the truth, AA wouldnt have bought TWA if the LPPs were left in place, its all in the court documents and TWA would have went out of business.

Don't let the facts get in your way!

And it went to arbitration, and independent person made the seniority ruling, not the IAM or the APFA and TWU.

So keep trying and dont you have to go visit Madoff in jail and bring him his Easter basket?

What do clients have to do with employees? Unions have members. The rest is just dribble. 🙄

What complete non sense. I dont work witg M&A deals nor am I even remotely involved. Why would I pay a visit to such a corrupt, despicable fool? Besides we're both Jewish so I'd sooner go for a Passover Seder.

I could not have said it better myself!!

People had the following to say about the IAM and TWA seniority:

So what is it you're here to defend the IAM no matter what or do these people on the AA forum have it all wrong? If you read the post history, I even said I recognize the IAM for its willingness to work with management and negotiate high pay rates for members by having favorable work rules for the company. Clearly the IAM dropped the ball here and its no surprise they got decertified at CO and DL.
