What's new

Republican controlled house says.."DEFUND Obamacare, or we're SHUTTING the GOVT. DOWN "

So the House has just passed a bill to pay all furloughed government workers back pay.

Why is it that they will not pass a bill to put them all back to work since they are all getting paid to stay home?

I thought the Republican mantra was "We should run government more like a business."

Not many businesses force their employees to stay home while giving them pay.
You're just jealous....besides its up to the democrats now.

Boehner defends delay in budget conference

By Erik Wasson and Russell Berman - 04/18/13 12:45 PM ET

Look at the date above

"Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Thursday defended the decision to delay the creation of a formal budget conference committee to reconcile the wildly different House and Senate budgets.

Boehner said he was following “regular order” by allowing chairmen to hash out an informal framework first.

"The chairmen of the two committees are talking, and as you all know, it’s customary that there’s no appointment of a formal conference until such time as there’s some basic framework worked out from which they can proceed,” Boehner said.

Democrats are accusing Boehner of dragging his feet and say they are prepared to convene a conference without a framework. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) sent a letter to Boehner on Thursday demanding that he take action."

Now Cantor is begging for a conference committee?

Pelosi this morning offered a deal where the Democrats will not offer any motions to instruct if Boehner offers to finally appoint conferees to reconcile the Senate and House budget. This is something he should have done in March.

Not to mention the mess the Dems created over the five years of running w/o a budget.
So who is the bad guy here?

Bring back earmarks so votes can be purchased with pork. It worked for many years. That was one of the benefits of being a senior member, key committee assignments.

Funny thing regarding Obamascare, heard the words 'unsustainable' and 'bankrupt' when mentioning the cost.....

2014/2016 Voter anger will prevail.

Wow, just spent about 40 mins. reading the posts while having coffee.....What a disaster. Looks like for most folks who managed to get access to the website their health care rates are sky rocketing under the ACA. Lots of posts about their rates being doubled or tripled. Lots of posts about huge out of pocket costs for visits etc.

If the posts are accurate, and the sheer number of different users posting seems to imply that it is, Obamacare is shaping up to be a complete mess. When I started reading I expected to see some derogatory posts towards the ACA, I did not expect it to be 98% or more in negative comments. Thousands of posts, mostly all saying the same thing, the ACA is a train wreck!

Obama blocking Catholics and others from worship services this weekend....

I'm sure this will make Tree quite happy, but it's preventing observant Catholics and others from practicing their faith, which is Constitutionally guaranteed.

And yet another Obama fail: a WW-II vet was locked out of the cemetery at Normandy, and prevented from visiting the graves of his fallen comrades. Absolutely disgusting.... WW-II vets are dying at a rate of 600+ per day, and it's unlikely this guy and others who are locked out will get a second chance to visit.

You can blame the Republicans for the shutdown, but in the 17 or 18 previous shutdowns, no administration chose to close down national cemeteries, open air memorials, or Barrycade the entrances to parks. Even during the Clinton shutdown, visitor centers were closed, but the parks remained open, and some parks services were funded by the states (i.e. Arizona kept the Grand Canyon open).

That, Bears, is what will be remembered during the primaries and mid-terms.

The discussion won't be the shutdown. It will be over the spiteful way it has been managed by the Democrats.

Oh.... Healthcare.Gov is being taken down for emergency maintenance today. Shocking.

“I’m pissed off,” said Gary Kelch, a furloughed federal employee and a veteran who was visiting the memorial. “It’s all just political theatrics. I don’t mind being furloughed if it gets attention [from Congress]. I’m good with losing a couple weeks of pay. But this is disgusting.”

“It was really disturbing to see congressmen out here grandstanding, using this as a political device when it was in fact Congress — the House — that was responsible for the shutdown,” said Dave Smith, a furloughed EPA employee who was visiting the memorial Friday.

Apparently, according to an anonymous Park Service ranger, “We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting.”

Geez, I thought you were posting something claiming that people were being prevented from practicing your faith? All I saw in the links was that affected priests from leading mass. Where is the stuff preventing people from practicing their faith? Are there no Catholic churches around? People cannot pray or read the bible on their own? What did people do regular people do if they cannot get to a church?

Don't worry about WIC, meals to vets, Fed subsidies for kids meals ... the WWII memorial is much more important.

You mean a start up web site taking millions of hits had some start bugs? Do tell? I cannot ever recall hearing about a site having issues.

I think the GOP is pulling a '95 all over again. The TP is leading the charge down the drain. I guess we will find out in Nov 2014.

Contrary to popular low information voter conscious, PPACA is not settled law! Just wait to the first penalty is paid and off we go to the SCOTUS. Roberts clearly wanted to kick the Act back to the political process. His wish may come true and he will be relieved of his own "catastrophic" error. When the penalty/"tax" becomes a higher percentage of a person's income, collection efforts go beyond merely withholding refunds, or criminal penalties attach, thereby leaving the land of a "tax" and clearly becoming what Congress called it: a penalty?

What is settled is that this thing is a complete abomination that already has wrecked the health insurance and job markets. The die hard liberals/socialists know it but just can't bring themselves to fault anything Obama does. Just check out the skyrocketing costs of health coverage premiums, the mass switch from full-time to part-time work and the mass stripping of benefits. Grisly. Check out the unemployment and underemployment rates for the 18-30 demographic. Dystopian. But that all is a little too much reality for the blogosphere and not enough theory.

So now your equating the BaRack-O-Care website with your general "Geek in Mom's Basement" website...................only difference, the Geek doesn't have billions supporting his website.............nice try !

And as usual, you always have an excuse for BaRack, at the ready !
