What's new

Republican does it again

Well almost 24 hours have gone by since the Edwards story first broke.... and not that I find it to be all that interesting news myself - but it just goes to prove that when stories like these break, you hear crickets from the usual gung-ho democrats. Yet, a republican senator taps their foot a little strangely on his way off the senate floor, and within 10 minutes, you have yourself a new topic ranting about hypocrasy and immoral values.

Just goes to show how close-minded some people are.

On another note, I do feel bad for Elizabeth Edwards. She is a classy lady.

I felt kind of sad for Newt Gingrich's sick wife when he did the same thing. But...this brings up the REAL issue for the coming elections....marital infidelities. Who cares about a war, the economy, or any of that senseless stuff...we've got SEX involved now.
And from Tuggo:
John Edwards preaching the "moral, honest and just" world.
Again I refer you to Newter G...I do believe his "contract with America" was run with the "family values" theme.

I think we should have town hall meetings with Obama and McCains penis's to get down to the issues that most American's find important.

Geez KC, that sounds bizarre. You must have some really strange dreams..................

War? It's on the back burner...it's old hat today anyways.

Economy? There's a reason they call it the "dismal science"

Healthcare? I'm not feeling to bad today...it's not that important

Oil? Boooooring

Sex? STOP THE PRESSES AND LET'S GET AN INVESTIGATION GOING....CALL CONGRESS BACK FROM VACATION!!!!!! This is CHARACTER we are talking about....that's what matters MOST to Americans. We need to know where our candidates have been and their positions (missionary, doggie style or if they are liberals some whacky thing from the Kama Sutra).

It's not democrat or republican...Americans only seem to care when it comes to sex (although we are loathe to talk about it) and the scandal involved with it. We were so concerned about bringing 'integrity' (read that as no blow jobs) back to the White House in 2000 that we put a guy in who is taking us to the brink of World War III...but he's faithful to his wife and they only have sex the normal "republican" way....man on top, get it over with quick.

Today, Edwards answered a question he asked Rielle Hunter starting at 4:00 into this video. LOL

The 'Moral' issue was regarding poverty. The moral, honest and just comment was not even shown with what ever came before it but it seemed to be linked to the world in general and not someones personal actions.

The morality that republicans speak of seems to be quite different than the morality that Dems speak of. When republicans speak of morality, they seem to be always speaking of gay marriage, reversing abortion rights and things of that nature. Dems seem to speak of morality in relation to poverty, education, medical care things of that nature.

One thing I will say for repubs is that they are fairly consistent, They consistently vote against gay rights, to curb abortion rights and the like. Dems, for political expediency, will vote against gay rights in order to save their job because there are still too many voteres out there who are predjudice against one group or another.

I, as a dem do not care that Foley was tapping away in the can, or that Newt was banging his secretary while his wife was in the hospital. I do care that they were doing these things while casting votes that would deprive others of the freedom to marry who they choose. I am bothered by the fact that Newt was banging his secretary while condemning Clinton for getting his knob polished in the Oval.

That is the difference between dem morality and republican morality. And that's the part you do not seem to see.

Having said all that, Edwards is a prick. He cheated on his wife who was dying of cancer and hid it for 2 years. He is a sleazy ball for doing so IMO. It also does not have a damn thing to do with his ability to govern. W using coke and being an alcoholic has nothing to do with his ability to govern.

I disagree. I think it's the main stream media that cares about sex because sex sells. I think americans care about the character of our elected officials. Look how upset many people are upset that Bush, Clinton, Libby, etc. lied. I don't think it matters what the lie is about, it matters that they are thought to be dishonest.

I agree.

I can not believe that he and his wife would go forward with a presidential campaign knowing that he had done this and had not come clean with the people before launching a campaign. That is bad judgment and an ethical lapse. The people who would go on supporting his campaign had the right to know before giving time and money to him.

Cheating on his wife while she is battling cancer...what a scumbag.

I hope he just goes away silently.

Perhaps it is a chicken and egg situation. The media is a service industry, or at least that is what it has terned into. Does the media give the people what they want or do the people tell the media what they want? Notice they are the same thing. IMO, if the media is trying to sell something the people are not interested in, they will go else where to find it. The people IMO, care very little about the substance of politics. They are superficial at best. If the superbowl and the election were on the same day, and you could only go to one of them, what do you think the out come would be? How many people watched Princess Diana get married and how many people watched the impeachment trials? How many people vote in local elections? Less than 50% vote in the national ones. I think you give the people far more credit than they deserve but then again, I have a pretty low expectation of people in general.

I could care less that Edwards cheated on his wife, that Ginrich cheated on his wife, that Clinton cheated on his wife, that Craig was taping in a bathroom. I do care about what kind of judges they want on the bench, how they want to spend my tax dollars and if they lie to the nation about something that pertains to the nation. Their job is to govern, anything out side of that jurisdiction is irrelevant and in my opinion, none of my damn business. They are not educating my children, taking care of my parents or what have you where character might be relevant. These are politicians. Speaking of them and character in the same sentence is looking for disappointment and I am not sure it is entirely relevant.

I feel for Elizabeth Edwards as well. I can’t go as far as to call her a classy lady after acknowledging the fact that she was a willing participant in her husband’s scheme to lie to the American public during his presidential campaign. They played the Democratic Party like a bunch of angry whining fiddles.
