Republicans to United: Screw You!

The employees of United didn't damage the company, MR. GOODWIN AND HIS INCOMPETENT LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT DID . . . . . and he was well rewarded for doing so.

Winglet...

The majority of employees didn't damage United...

But who put Mr. Goodwin in place? Who sought to "choke the golden goose"?

You sould look at the events that lead to management damaging United.

Gotta love this thread. United's employees, both leadership and labor, capsize their ship and expect the U.S. taxpayer to come to their rescue despite the fact that they haven't got a decent plan to fix things.

I don't think so.

The "It's the Republicans" conspiracy theories are highly entertaining.

Glad I voted for G Dubya.

Do you mean GWBAFFOON!!
How about the next theory on the uproar in congess about the atsb.

Now that Ual is in BK they can rant and rave about how bad this was for the US.
It seems clear to me if AA or Continental gets in trouble the Gov. will have learned not to let anyone else get to the point of BK. I think both will get aid from the Gov. to avoid BK and they will just say it was a mistake with Ual.

Of course With Ual it was a real deal since employees owned 55% in name only. I guess Republicans don't like company ownership.

Let's see how this plays out.

BSDVR;

"The aide suggested that O’Neill’s retention would have imperiled the status of President Bush’s economic policies, which the Treasury Department chief is expected to defend on Capitol Hill."

O'Neill had been critical of some of Bush's proposals on Tax cuts.

First the Republicans get slammed for giving "Corporate Welfare" now you are slamming them for not giving "Corporate Welfare". You can not have it both ways.

Considering how most airline unions, but especially the IAM, pulled out out the stops to assist Gore in the 2000 Florida debacle, and considering that the IAM is a major player at UA, retribution on the part of W is a given. Where, and how much is debatable.

2. Kudos to the ATSB for turning down UA's loan. The government should not be sustaining firms that cannot survive on their own. The free-market works and it needs to be allowed to work and to weed out the weekest firms.

3. Jesse Jackson is a moron.

Why is it OK for the government to subsidize farmers but not airlines? I agree that the free market works well and should be allowed to weed out the weakest. The problem is that our government does not apply free market forces equally across the board. The money given away to farmers, dairymen and steel producers (just to name a few) comes out of the taxpayers pockets just like any money given to the airlines. What's the difference?

Now to your point about the Reverend Jessie Jackson. He is not a moron. He is actually quite clever. He has been steeling millions for years, and getting away with it. Morons can't do that.
