Request for AMFA drive at US Airways

twoface_ibt.jpg

I have been contacted by several AMT's at US Airways asking for assistance in getting an AMFA drive started there.

I will not disclose sources or details of those communications but would like to see how many AMT's from US Airways frequent this forum and ask that you express your opinion about this idea here.

What say you?

Thanks
A Teamster drive is nearing here at US and if that doesn't pan out then I doubt AMFA would have any luck getting in. I like the principles of AMFA and would support it, but alot of people I've talked to don't seem to agree.

I'm a 10 year mechanic with US Airways and I'm very happy with them. I had 11 years with them at TWA also and no problems with them. I was with the IBT at America West for 3 years and didn't care for them and I Was at AA for 3years with The TWU and they were the worst of the 3 unions...I do not have any issues with the IAM so I would not vote for AMFA. There's an old saying we all know very well as mechanics. If it ain't broke don't fix it....Therevis nothing wrong with the IAM and your right the IAMNPF is 1 of the best in our industry if not The Best...GO IAM
Are you in PHX? If NOT then disreguard the following. In PHX the only people that seem to be happy with the IAM are the ones who aren't involved with grievances. They are the ones that don't mind if supervisors overstep their boundries. They don't care when people get walked out for ridiculous reasons. They don't mind if the roadtrips/overtime is called incorrectly. They don't mind/care if management follows the contract that was agreed upon. Ignorance afterall is bliss. The people who file grivances and get involved with trying to correct these problems are extremely tired of the dog and pony show in the IAM union office. When most greivances "LACK MERIT" without any sort of effort of looking into it. In short, the people who are really involved and know what's going on are NOT HAPPY WITH THE IAM!

I have spent 25 years in the IAM at Piedmont/USair
AMFA will not improve anything!!!!!
I worked at NWA while I was furloughed from US. AMFA failed them. I don't know anyone who would support an AMFA drive on our Property!!

When was it that you were at NWA?

And Do You Think When we had Teamsters it was a better Union..The same crap happenning and worse...You don't need the grievance committee to file a grievance. You can file your own grievance. STEP UP

IBT and AMFA...

you guys are caught between a rock and a pile of $#!7! No wonder unions are on the decline!

So, Signals/firedougparker you say you are not associated with the airlines (especially US), then why the hell do you have an opinion about any union or the outcome of any union vote here at US?

I can't wait for the day when I find out who you are....and that day is coming soon! BOOO

Maybe you have never filled out a grievance. Step 1. Fill out grievance Step 2. Give to grievance comittee. Step 3. They "theoretically" look at grievance then look at contract and try to settle said grievance with the company. So tell me how you don't have to deal with the g/c?

When you worked there they weren't AMFA, so you have no first hand experience with them.

I made several friends when I was there, most of them I'm still in contact with. I saw AMFA in action. They have a great idea in Their opinion. In drank the Koolaid I thought when the Cleaners were gone here comes the $$$$$ Mechanics Representation Finally. It doesn't work out that way. Ask a former NWA mechanic if he would elect AMFA again. I know what happened. Six of them worked for me when I was at ABX Air. I'll vote IAM with no regrets.

I know a couple ex NWA who are not fans of AMFA, but I think that they are putting blame on the wrong group. It was NWA that wasn't negotiating in good faith, and it was NWA who would've imposed their terms at the end of cooling off with or without a strike. It didn't help that no other union honored the picket line, but especially the IAM, those mechanic's former union brothers.
I also work with many ex NWA who are fans of AMFA, and we are represented by AMFA. I have worked under the TWU, IAM, and AMFA, and personally I like AMFA. It seems that we have more open communication, and we are more in control of our union, than I have felt with the others.

I heard about AMFA at NWA. I was a teamster for 15 years and didn't get no satisfaction. Apparently, nobody is entitled to an opinion unless they are in your industry? You are fighting a losing battle.

Now if you are still on a mission to "find me" then you should separate me from firedougparker.

Let me know when you finally found me.
