What's new

Rest in Peace. . . . MARIO,. . . You ALWAYS Cared about the 'Little Guy' !

If ever there was a guy, who CARED about the 'little guy/gal', it was this man, Who just happened to be the Most Popular NY (state) Governor.

A man who never forgot about a city like Buffalo....350 miles away, and ALL the tough times that city has had to endure.

One good thing about being 'up there' in age, is that it gave me the opportunity to know about this man, and to hear him Speak.   IMHO, he was the greatest orator my ears had ever heard.

PS,
His commercials with the late Texas governor Ann Richards.....were Priceless !

R I P
Governor

Mario was great and I always wanted a REAL Italian in the White House. He could cater to his liberal cause with grace and finesse. He could raise NY taxes and nobody cared. The only gripe I would have, and this is a NY-thingy, is that he took the Empire Games from an established location. But I'm a minority on this one.

Rest In Peace.

Mario.

Nice touch 'sig  !!!!!!!!!!

WJC and perhaps the whole Clinton dynasty can thank thier lucky stars that M C did Not run in '92.

Whats that you say  'southwindBAG ?  WHAT Clinton dynasty  ?
Check back with me on the first Tuesday in Nov. '16   !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How does one admire a man who participates in confiscating the wages of the "Little Guy" to redistribute it to the wealthy individuals, corporations and foreign aid that goes to prop up friendly nations that often have no real freedom for their Little Guys?

Caring? With a track record like his I'd be happier I think if he didn't care.

Ah, you guys are 'killing me'.  Mario Cuomo was as respected by the vast majority of " D's " , as well as a HEALTHY swath of " R's " !

Not bad for being a Governor in a state that includes the majority of 'heavy $$$ hitters' in a place like New York city.

Cuomo would have beaten Clinton in the primaries hands down. Why he didn't is probably his biggest failure (I didn't buy the lame excuse about dealing with the NYS budget then, and I don't buy it now).

Having the "respect" of the Rs & D's would be proof enough that I was on the wrong track,

Well being an Italian American from Queens county(think John Gotti) in NYC, the risk is always there that some distant uncle or cousin would be of 'questional character'.
THAT possibility WAS tossed around a bit back then, as I remember.

Welcome to the REAL world of politics. Paul does it too, but he's not very significant, yet. When he is, we'll uncover his dirty 'political' laundry.

Hmmmm. Maybe I'm missing something, but Cuomo was really being pushed to run against Reagan instead of the all-time-loser Mondale.

PS this is running along the Cuomo vs Clinton thingy.

'Sig,.......could be, (M C   vs   R R ) I can't quite remember. ( Old age is on the horizon ),

Back in the early '90's,...WJC had zero gravitas in NY, NJ and NE. Same for 'HILL (Park Ridge, IL. gal).
Bill WILL Always remember that IF   M  C had run, he (WJC) was 'dead-meat' in the 92' primary's  !!
