A new set of standards is out, complete with a cover letter from Doug Parker.

Has anyone seen it? Any changes from before?

I have seen it, as well as, the new hire policy manual. It is basically the same. The biggest change I saw involves setting down the rules for pubic media such as this blog. Well worth checking out the do's and don'ts. I would recommend Signals/firedougparker and a few others on here check it out before making specific assaults on a private individuals character. Also anyone posting misinformation on corporate policy or making unwarranted attacks on a competitor are strongly advised not to do these things to sum it up. Also it provided a snitch number and clarified the rules against retaliation.

Do not count on the Code of Conduct or on US Airways upholding it to their own management people.

This stuff is just published to a) make them look good, b ) make employees believe that they follow what they publish, c) to full-fill legal requirements on HR crap, ohhh and forgot to mention... to use it as another tool to get you in trouble if they can.

In a management vs. employee setting over at US, rest assured that you can go as far as recording them (which is legal in AZ), catch them on tape lying and doing other unethical things in their dealings, and, yet, still not get any of the offenders to pay for their actions.

You can catch people like Jared West on tape lying, present the tape to the company, yet the company still shrugging it off. Corrupt people like Barb Trella and Hector Adler protect their posse and are protected by the company, themselves.

So disregard the Ethics Manual all-together.

Forget that it exists.

I've just finished reading "The Code of Business Conduct and Ethics" on the Wings website, and I have to say it is both chilling and hilarious, and, for me, produced the same dizzying pleasure/horror effect that I get when I tune in to Pat Robertson on "The 700 Club," or when I see those tarted-up toddlers "wowing them judges" with blatantly inappropriate gyrations. One of my favorite quotes from the Code (and, yes the word "code" is capitalized in every instance it is mentioned. Orwellian, if you ask me) is, "As much as we'd like it to, the Code cannot address all situations or every practice and principle related to honest and ethical conduct." And the gem, "You are expected to report promptly any behavior, instance, occurrence or practice believed to be unethical, illegal, or at a minimum inconsistent with the Code. Appearances Count! Your report can be based on your perceptions as much as actual fact, as long as the report is made in good faith." Well, what the f!#@ am I supposed to do when I'm having an ethical dilemma, say an extreme set of circumstances has unfolded and I'm forced to decide between certain death or resorting to cannibalism, and the Code doesn't address that specific situation--as much as they'd like to, you see, they simply cannot address every situation or circumstance. The Code opens with dire productions of the reader's fate if the Code is not observed, up to, and including banishment to the Gulag. I'm going to start preparing my misconduct reports, I want to please the Code enforcers, and besides in cases where I don't have any actual information, my own perceptions will do just fine. I'm going to start with the feeling I get from certain members of management.

"Appearances Count! Your report can be based on your perceptions as much as actual fact, as long as the report is made in good faith." Wow! I wonder who/what clairvoyant agency now defines "good faith" for this purpose? 😉 ....The truly unsettling part is that such clinically insane "thought" must actually seem "reasonable" and "rational" to someone/ANYone involved with this! Words just fail me. 😉 Uh Oh!....I think I hear the Thought Police at the door!...Arrrgh!

LOL... Excellent

I got a good giggle out of that one. +1

Let me tell ya something..... US Airways supervising agents and managers reserve the right to fabricate information without prejudice and to make false statements during investigations in an attempt to get a favorable outcome for the department head and US Airways in general.

Thankfully, for all concerned; such has now been covered and coded. Evidently; wholesale BS can now be based entirely on your "perceptions".........naturally, of course, as long as the report is made in "good faith". 😉 Sigh!....One must wonder where/how The Ministry of Good Faith can be reached though.....

I really enjoy the fact that if you hold a FAA licenses that you are not able to use it outside of US Airways. Thank you company for that.

Wow. They don't want you to use your license anywhere else, meanwhile, they'll only pay you $3.50/hr for the use of those licenses... Pretty sad.
