Rick Perry - Elect Me...

I do not understand your point.

If you want to be POTUS you don't dismiss Mormonism as a cult. Perry did this or at least the guy who introduced him did and it has to date gone without comment or rebuke from Perry.

It's one thing to allow you to let your faith guide you as you lead a nation or state. It is however a whole different situation when you allow it to dictate policy!

Got ya. Agreed.

Perhaps not, but many former LDS members consider it a cult.

It's a little off topic, but before you respond, do a little research into the LDS doctrine and practices if you're not familiar with it. Watching "Big Love" isn't going to do it. Neither will reading Wikipedia, as the LDS is really good at "brand protection" and has authored most if not all of the content there.

http://exmormon.org has some of the more interesting stories and insights into the church that I've found, provided you read them with a grain of salt (the site is run by former LDS members who now proselytize against the LDS).

If you read the definition of a cult that applies to every religion. Granted some are more 'cultish' than others but as far as I can see they are all a cult to one degree or another. I say this as a recovering 'jew'.

I think Ricks star is falling and stuff like this will just hasten his demise (a good thing I believe). If we are lucky may be this exposure will get him booted from the Gov office next election.

Rick Perry officials spark revolt after doctoring environment report

Officials in Rick Perry's home state of Texas have set off a scientists' revolt after purging mentions of climate change and sea-level rise from what was supposed to be a landmark environmental report. The scientists said they were disowning the report on the state of Galveston Bay because of political interference and censorship from Perry appointees at the state's environmental agency.

By academic standards, the protest amounts to the beginnings of a rebellion: every single scientist associated with the 200-page report has demanded their names be struck from the document. "None of us can be party to scientific censorship so we would all have our names removed," said Jim Lester, a co-author of the report and vice-president of the Houston Advanced Research Centre.

You know what they say, if you live in a glass house don't throw stones. Some of those evangelicals come across as a bit cultish themselves.

You're looking at this through secular eyes. That's cool because that's who you are. Allow me to comment through my Christian eyes.

Rick Perry is where he is not because of other candidates, the Liberal Media or the bogeyman. No, Rick Perry is where he is because of his comments and actions, loving spouse notwithstanding.

That debate where it sounded like he had been sniffing glue prior to it comes to mind.

If there is a candidate who presents his case in a debate worse than Perry I've yet to see it. He may be the best man for the job but the gaffe's he's made IMO have undone him.

He should strive to be like Biden. It would be a marked improvement.

Tehy sure do have a terminal case of "Foot in Mouth" don't they? Be quite a horse race to see whose worse. I think but only by shear weight of practice and longevity.

Someone ought to tell Perry that it is not his debating skills that make him poor debater, but the content of his arguments that make him a poor debater.

I guess he was told that ducking the debates was going to turn out worse than sucking at the debates.
