Dell is indisposed right now so I'll take a run at the answer. Truthfully I think the answer is "It Depends". It depends on where we are in this geopolitical cesspool.

Truth is if ANY of the economic numbers get significantly worse. Say Unemployment @ 9.1& and gas @ $4.75/Gal and frankly the Republicans could run a baby Harp Seal and win. Conversely if Unemployment dips to say 7.7% and gas creeps down to $3.00/Gal by October 1 and the Republicans could reincarnate Reagan with Jesus as his running mate and be hard pressed to win.

Another scenario is the economy doesn't improve and we end up embroiled in a conventional war in Iran. Then the Republicans can put up Ron Paul and win easily. For Ron Paul to be successful, he has to have exactly the right scenario. Don't be surprised if you see a Ron Paul, Mitt Romney ticket in this scenario. Paul as President and Romney as VP. I'll include a link that might give you an idea why I think this.

I'd have to say its up to the 88% who know the country is headed in the wrong direction to decide in November.

Probably. He could spin a BS tail like few others but once reality set in Congress would have been reeling. He raised taxed more than any other President. He raised Capital gains to 28% and felt that it should be treated as any other income. The only republicans who still like Reagan are completely oblivious to the realities of his administration. Taxes are the lowest they have ever been yet the economy is still tanking. May be there are things other than taxes that are affecting it?
