Rude awakening for US small business's in less than 2 months.

Not to discount something like 40 million decided to retire/quit....Then those who left their previous career to do something else. Common reason was they had time to reflect on what they were doing and figured on a different career direction.

Still doesn't change the fact that CHEAP PAYING small business's are going to get ROYALLY P O R K E D within weeks !!!!!!!!!

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha.

That's a nice rant, but the thing is, OTHER PEOPLE don't seem to want a lot of those jobs either.
Of course they don't. They have been participating in the labor market and filled the vacuum of better paying jobs. You come late to the party you get the left overs. That's life.

I've also heard from one hiring manager that anyone who stayed out for more than a year without a job won't get an interview at his shop, regardless of their qualifications.
Just like I said, if they chose to sit on their ass and collect government cheese then why should small business hire them. It is obvious they don't want to work, they just want a handout, unless of course they no longer have a choice.

Why would 'cheap paying' small businesses get porked when the free lunch ends? Signs everywhere...yet no one applying due to the pandemic free lunch project.

Small business people have been porked by the government shutdowns....many are no longer in business and you exhibit a sense of glee.

Please explain.

Only people I see who are getting porked is the small time (and large) landlords.

more than half the states ended the unemployment extra. But they still need workers. Those lazy asses most likely used the extra money to stock up on cheese so they could stay home.

If you owned a business (which we all know would NEVER happen because god forbid YOU ever had to reach into YOUR pocket to pay someone else) would YOU want to give someone a job that sit on their ass for MONTHS living off unemployment when so many companies are hiring? I sure as hell wouldn't.
Yes. I would be looking for the optimal combo of qualifications & soft skills.

I'd also be more focused on where the candidate wants to go, than where they've been.

Gaps in unemployment aren't anything new, and there're a bazillion reasons for them.

Not as many. So how come businesses in red states are having trouble filling jobs?

  • Looking at employment trends by employee age, we observe that around the time of governors announcements in the first week of May, hirings rates for workers 25 and older rose in states ending these benefits early, which indicates that UI did play a role in the labor supply decisions of a group of adult workers. At the same time, hiring rates for teenage workers simultaneously jumped in states not ending these provisions early, indicating that small businesses elsewhere have been able to expand by tapping into an additional supply of labor.
  • Through the end of June, when states actually rolled off UI benefits, there has been no difference in hiring patterns. This pattern can likely be explained by the fact that the workers for whom UI payments were the only factor keeping them out of the labor force did so when these announcements were made, and those still remaining on the sidelines are doing so for other reasons, including concerns for their health or because they are still juggling childcare responsibilities. https://gusto.com/company-news/hiri...dence-from-high-frequency-small-business-data

Great. I hope your generosity is not abused. Most likely it will be.

A sad rationale for I don't do anything for anybody.
