I see as a retiree, I'm entitled to (1) SA1 pass. Could someone explain what this is and is it usefull?
Thanks,
Bud

It is one roundtrip where you will go as category SA1 instead of S4 (as a retiree) so you will be above everyone who is just traveling on a regular pass. It is useful if the flights you are planning on taking are full. If you travel on East metal, you also get your DOH within the SA1 category which can move you really far up vs the S4 you would normally be traveling. On West metal it gets you ahead of others as S3/4s, but all SA1s on West go time of checkin, but it still puts you up there.

And you must list on the Hub. If others are traveling with you they must be under the same listing, having the same record locator #. You can't add to that listing at a later date so make sure you do all the people at the same time. When you check-in, ensure the agent realizes you are traveling on an SA1. They don't check that so tell them. If, for whatever reason you don't get on that flight an agent can rebook you on another flight using that record locator #. Reservations can't help you with SA1's.
Another thing, on the East metal if two parties are flying on an SA1 then it goes by seniority.

Hey Capt, just remember to check in using an agent. The system will not recognize a SA1 if you use the kiosk. Even if they tell you to use the kiosk, tell them you need to check in with an agent. Trust me! If you don't get on the flt. that you wanted make sure when they roll you to the next flt. that your SA1 listing came over with the roll over. The SA1 is an ok option but too many quirks with it if things go south. Good Luck. PS if we had your senority we'd never need SA1's B)

Second that...I was out west this weekend and had trouble "checking in" for an HP flight. Also, thehub was having some issues. I done what I needed and came back to it later and was working this time. I always like it when I go to an "American West" flight and ask a question, only to be told "you need to go to US Airways for that; this is America West." Laugh, but it happened this weekend. All I wanted to know was what time/gate a US Airways (mainline) flight left and that's the response I got.
