being last minute, as always, i was wondering if any crewmember has recently obtained their french visa? my appointment is in the am, and i am scrambling trying to get everything i need.

if somebody has recently done this (preferably at the DC consulate), could you post or pm required documents, and any other helpful information to getting this accomplished on the first try?

many thanks in advance!

Picked up my Schengen visa in DC and the one thing that stands out for me is, they wanted multiple copies of all paperwork - of course I didn't have the required copies. The nearest copier is roughly 4 to 5 blocks away. Also a moneyorder is required.

As a side note, everyone was really nice.

Enjoy

I mailed mine on a Friday and got it back the next Saturday, real easy. You need two copies of your id front and back, copy of your passport and your passport, visa application, letter from company,

Just did mine in NYC. The clerk was extremely nice. They take Visa (no pun) and MasterCard. I already had about two dozen copies of EVERYTHING just to be ready; turned out they only took the original application, the original employment letter and the two passport-size photos....and my money, of course. Except for waiting for 90 minutes to get to see the clerk, and 15 minutes to do the deed, it was painless.

NYC will process crew member applications from those outside their assigned jurisdiction. But that's just between us, okay.

(The clerk was an American, BTW. Don't read anything into that.)

I say to HELL with going to DC on my own time. I sent mine through the mail. You don't get reimbursed for your cab fare to/from the airport to the embassy. While you are without your passport though you cannot fly outside of the country. Not a problem for me. You have to let scheduling know though. I just don't understand how you are REQUIRED to have the visa yet US will not give you positive space to DC to get it. On top of that you have to go on YOUR time. I just don't understand how this keeps getting swept under the rug. I say mail it. As for going to DC for a "day trip".....the company can pound salt. 🙄
