What's new

Senate request' PBGC restore US pension.

Also, how do you get the 400M back that came out of the pilots pension plan to buy E170s...and "save" the airline? Oops, those were sold...... with no return to the pilots!

There were so many shell games played with our retirements, it would be like putting Humpty Dumpty back together again. Nice to think about...not going to happen.

Greeter.

AGAIN, this is not start the plan up again but to FULLY FUND IT! When it was dumped it was 4.8B underfunded, thus the payouts were dropped for current and future retirees who have earned benefits. If the PBGC reinstates it US will have 30 years to fully fund the plan. Since they have 6B to spend on buying a competitor the Govt. figures they can honor past pledges.

Yeah... I know. It just amazes me that when you buy shares of a company I thought you owned a part of the company. So they go bankrupt and change to a new company with the same name and I own nothing. You would think they could reorganise my stock to go with the new company. Oh well, never again.....
Seatacus, If you were on the America West side of the equation, You WOULD of been able to transfer your old America West stock over to the "new" Usairways stock..
This is how Parker[lube] was able to collect his infamous $9 mil., off the backs of the East employees...
You see, he waited until his stock was transfered into the "new" Usairways BEFORE cashing in,just sitting back and watching the new stock rise due to the HUGE paycuts...Pretty Sleazy stuff.
Yeah, but thats alright, Both Parker and Kirby have stated more than once that "We are in this all Together", Riiight

Do not be fooled into thinking it can not happen.

CO/AA/UA/AK/FL and even FRONTIER have a defined retirement plan.

DL has in its standalone plan a replacement to its pension plan.

The request to the PBGC is to have PAST bennies paid in full. Not in the Reduced amount from the PBGC. US should honor its past agreements with its employees before "dealing" on Wall Street with that money.

Not sure what work group you are referring to but UA, FL and Frontier DO NOT have a current A fund pilot pensions. Neither does DAL btw (pilots will receive $650M note and $2.1B unsecured claim due to A-plan termination).

USAirways just didnt find five billion in a suitcase. They dont have it. You want bankruptcy three that would do it.

You know our country is in trouble when US Senators don't understand basic business, jeez.

I saw one say "Why not take the money to buy Delta and put it in your pensions" While that sounds great to the under educated US media, just think about it for a minute.

Which would you invest in?
a) a merger w/ a potential gain in assets and stock or
B) a pension that while it would be altruistic will garuantee you a 100% loss
