One other item. I resent the fact that some of you keep saying the west guys really wanted to see there pay increase.
Guess what guys there are a lot of us class 2 cities out here that make crap wages too.
We too want and need a raise.
You guys really need a reality check with your class 2 brothers.
It sucks out here. Just ask some of your friends from Pit who had to make there choice of class 1 or 2 city to transfer to when they got there furlough packet.

The company can only take the award to court if the arbitrator does not follow the rules.

Mr Bloch is a well known, educated and skilled Arbitrator.

He has heard and ruled on many cases in the airline industry.

He has heard numerous cases involving the M&R group at US, including the airbus arbitration and the 401k arbitration.

The IAM should prevail on the merits and facts of the case.

The NFL has used him on several occasion also, as has the NHL and the USPS has used him.

But Bloch is serious about the law. (So is his wife, Sue, who was a law clerk for the late Supreme Court justice Thurgood Marshall.) He has been handling grievances for 30 years, both sports- and business-related.

Let's not make this about the East and the West! The fact of the matter is that the IAM isn't using all of the tools at their disposal. The IAM needs to start action against the company. This does not mean what you think. It means they should be putting pressure on the company. They put so much effort into the T/A that they forgot all about moving forward for the west should the T/A get voted down. They have got to get out of the single game plan and have contingencies. The fact that they had no backup plan just goes to show they are going to a battle of wits unarmed. They are who we have for now but the IAM needs to get it’s sh*t together. Stop allowing the company to control everything and for once go on the OFFENSIVE! They employees deserve better than what are getting. 700 you just showed how the IAM thinks also when you say "The West has lived under a piece of crap CBA THEY ratified, if it was not for the merger they would not be crying about their wages.

But yet I don't see any westies on here trying to help the East get the West Sick Pay, Vacations, Health Insurance Premiums and etc... And you don’t see the East complaining about the disparity. “This shows how the IAM thinks also. Why should I do this because they did this? That is such crap! The past is the past and we need to fight for a better future and stop all of the finger pointing! This is the very reason I sought the opportunity to get another union before, because of the mentality of the IAM leadership! When you let the company dictate the tone of everything you do you will never come out ahead! That is why we as a group are starting to take back the UNION from career guys that don't feel our pain! CLT just did a great thing and PHL has done the same. PHX and LAS should take back their unions in those cities. That means like in LAS. The AWA guys were not aloud the right to be on the ballots. This is not a Democratic process.

I'm sorry if I rant, but the truth is there are so many things that go into the section 6! Trust is a must! 700 you just continue to help the IAM seperate the group.

Dog,

Why were the HP guys not allowed on the ballot in LAS?

They were told that because the dues were being held they could not run even though they out number the USAirways east employees 10 to 1. This also happened when the AGC was given to Nate instead of an AWA TWU steward or commiteeman. They should have been given a position so their side of the company could be represented also! If you really want to confirm this check with some of the guys in LAS. Also look at the AGC s. Not one of the AGCs are AWA EMPLOYEES! I don't work in the west I'm on the east coast!

It just dawned on me why the IAM is currently avoiding negotiating for us [the west].
If they did they would encourage a small but significant amount of the west to
vote no on the up coming TA. They want an agreement more than the company.
Where are the west leaders with any integrity? It may be too late for you to wise
up but it's not to late for us to get rid of every last one of you.

If the IAM would use the TA proposal as a concept for a contract with the West, the end result would be something less. Some things from the TA would make it, others would remain from the TWU contract. THAT would give the IAM a decent contract (possibly better then what the East has now) to throw in the Companys faces in 2009. "We got this, now we need better." Just one perspective.

Well Folks,
Here is a question. Why has the I AM MANAGEMENT not said anything about when we could expect a ruling on the "COC"? Does anybody know? Maybee 700UW, with his infinite wisdom, has some insight? I think about mid February. That is provided that the inept leadership of the I AM MANAGEMENT does not serve Fleet Service to the company on a silver platter for some table scraps from ole Dougweiser's plate. Also why do you think that the I AM MANAGEMENT for 142 would not even entertain the notion of trading the "COC" for table scraps? Things that make you go HMMMMMMMMMM.

From the November 1, 2007 update...

A written opinion and decision from Arbitrator Bloch should be forthcoming thirty (30) to sixty (60) days upon recess of the System Board. The membership will be advised immediately upon receipt of the decision rendered by Arbitrator Bloch.

necigrad,
That qoute does not quite answer the question. "30 to 60 days upon recess of the system board" When do you think that might be? The final breifs were submitted on the 16th of Nov. Would it be 30 to 60 days from that date? When does the system board meet? Who decides when to recess? That is why I posed the question. Just curious if anybody has any insight?

IMO

It's over. If we see an new TA by mid Jan08 it will be voted in. The IAM Company will not let this get away from Canale/Parker/UA again.
WE will be req'd to drop the COC in exchange for UA type wages below..............

Who on the west in their right mind wouldn't vote for money like that..Isn't it funny how the contracts are amendable on the same dates.(coincidence or just good preplanning??)

With Lcc being at 14$ its a steal. Even the pilots would benefit I believe with UA. The only loosers would be the west....ie ( not enough seniority.....................)

"There are two kinds of man: the ones who make history and the ones who endure it."

UA/LCC will make history by becoming #1

" Being on the tightrope is living; everything else is waiting "

The Industry has waited long enough...DOJ will have to sue them but they don't care

Mike: If you are right it will be exactly as I predicted. Less in the middle but still
enough to get plenty of west votes and high enough for a lot of senior east FS to
make it pass. Feelers are being sent out as we speak. My prediction is the
"leaders'' in the west will complain about how the west is getting less by giving to
the east and that we should have passed the previous TA.

I want to be perfectly clear in that I don't begrudge anyone for voting for the Jan TA
You have a perfect right to the new wages. But the problem is with the pathetic
"leadership" of the IAM which in utter disregard for FS threw away everything they
had to negotiate costing FS millions and millions.

A while back I wrote someone from this forum asking him several key questions
about the IAM. He wrote me back saying that the IAM is corrupt. I thought
that was a little strong at the time but I don't anymore. That's not to say that
there are not some honest people out there but for the most part the
structure and the leadership of the IAM is corrupt legally and morally.
Thanks. BF

There is a mentality that I don't understand, and maybe
someone with some West Coast seniority can explain, it's
Money First
Bodies Second

I am East Coast and in a round about way I don't have
a dog in this fight, but I have more concern for the jobs
lost and the full time/ part time ratio the T/A will
bring about than the money gained by stepping over the
bodies to get to it.

I experienced this already in the last BK. I chose to reject
the agreement because of the contracting out language, but
was in the minority. I chose to take voluntary furlough for
over a year so that someone else could stay.

If Canale slides another T/A in that would bring about pay
that you could agree to, how can you on the West agree
to the carnage of the contracted out stations?

Thanks,
