Phoenix said:
Yes.  Outsourcing and furloughs are reaching deep into the seniority lists and there appears to be no end in sight.  It is expected that the next round of consessions will result in the outsourcing or furlough of retirees.

US Airways to Outsource Retirees, Arlington,VA (UPI)

US Airways has announced that they are outsourcing their retirees to a company in China which has located Chinese peasants willing to be US Airways retirees for only $10/mo US. This will represent a substantial savings for the company over the pensions currently being paid to U.S. retirees.

The company expressed it's regret over this move, but a company spokesperson stated that it had become necessary in order to compete in the changing economic environment. "Unfortunately, our retirees in the United States have insisted on a pension which pays their house payments and puts food on their tables. Houses and food are substantially less expensive in the People's Republic of China. If
retirees in the United States wish to participate in the emerging global economy, they must get their costs down."

Bush Administration press secretary lauded the move as a perfect example of a way that the U.S. could compete globally. The press secretary added that he hoped this would begin to eliminate the sense of entitlement that workers seem to have developed during Democratic administrations that working for the same company for 30-40 years meant they should get something in return. That same plutocratic buzzword larded jargon seems to be trotted out with each attempt of the "overclass" to advance their agenda; Simply plug in a different group into their crosshairs to fit the situation.
