(Instead of fixing the antiquated FAA system, the FEDS will use the "band aid" approach to JFK)

(Having said that😉, I believe it will be a "toss up' between DL/B6, as to who gets hurt the Most !

What makes you think AA isn't going to get spanked as well?

" luv",

AA WILL be affected !

However, I feel that they have (IMHO) some advantages.

Assuming that 1 A/E arrival/departure = 1 AA mainline trip,.....AA has a LOT of (A/E) "sacrificial lambs"

Though AA has the capacity(terminal) to do so, they haven't added anywhere near the NEW trips out of Kennedy, that DL or B6 has.

Since AA has a "hammer lock" on Wide body transcons from JFK, to LAX/SFO, the timing of this is PERFECT, due to Virgin ready to flood those routes with cheap "narrowbody" fares !!!

I can logically imagine the FEDS using a "last one in, first one OUT" mentality when it comes time to "reduce"
(ex:....If Aeroflot, or LOT Polish has been running the same schedule for the last DECADE, I just don't see THEM, or others like them, being touched)

So in summary....I did'nt arrive at this prognostication via "rose colored glasses"...but, via "rose colored LOGIC"

Since the days after PAA, and TWA................AA IS and always WILL be......... "King at Kennedy" !!!

AA really doesn't have that many Eagle flights to sacrifice...only about 20 per day. In fact, DL would have far more room to sacrifice some regional frequencies if needed. Of course, DL also needs its regional flights more to feed many of its secondary international routes. DL also has an advantage over AA in that DL can upgrade to larger 76 seat RJ's, something AA can't do.

As for AA being "King at Kennedy", you might want to check your statistics. JetBlue is already substantially larger than AA at JFK, both in terms of passengers carried and destinations. And DL has recently passed AA as well....so AA is actually now in 3rd place at JFK.

I would argue that in the near term, DL and B6 may lose a bit more in terms of flights. And particularly for B6 which is heavily reliant on JFK, this could really hurt. Long term, AA could be in some pain as they spent a lot of money on a terminal which they now might never get to fill. AA's ~100 flights per day really isn't enough to return the substantial investment on that new building.

DLFlyer31,

That NEW AA/JFK terminal, was built with a "bit" of handling of other carriers, in mind.

BA, perhaps ?

Crandall taught AMR many things.
Looong distance thinking, was one of them.

And speaking of terminals, I wonder if DL will be as anxious(Now) to spend a "ton of dough" in JFK ?

Maybe this is the green light Delta needs to announce New terminal plans.
I know they keep pushing back the announcement. The latest was "sometime in '08"

Thank you for that Update !

These decisions, still(I think) will Impede Virgin America's plans.

Time will tell.
