I’m not a commercial pilot.
I did command military aircraft and serve as a safety officer.

I will not accuse or condemn pilots of using safety as a tactic in negotiations. I’ve never met a pilot that would manipulate safety for personal gain. I’ve never met a pilot that would cry wolf and all that implies for future flights to secure a favorable contract.

i guess you've never ment a union memeber either then ......

LOL ....

(p.s i'm a proud memeber of a union , and yes sometimes we too "work safe" )

You can start now.

"Indeed, as confirmed by the applicable legal precedent USAPA's attempt to put

pressure on US Airways in ongoing contract negotiations by disrupting operations is a blatant

violation of its status quo obligations under Section 2, First, of the RLA. USAPA is directly

instigating the illegal slowdown by encouraging pilots to delay flight departures, not complete

certain training requirements, decline to fly on the basis of fatigue, increase maintenance write-

ups, and generally slow down in the performance of their duties — and also by threatening to

expose and retaliate against those pilots who do not participate in the slowdown. Although

USAPA is encouraging pilots to change their behavior under the guise of “safety,” USAPA's

own communications confirm the true purpose of its campaign is illegally to slowdown US

Airways' operation in order to gain leverage in contract negotiations. For example, USAPA

encourages pilots to “Fly Safe” and “slow it down!” in a publication describing what it will take

for US Airways' pilots to win their “battle” for a new contract. And USAPA's Strike

Preparedness Committee — not its Safety Committee — issued a publication stating that “it is

time for us to make a concise and powerful statement that we will no longer tolerate unfair

working conditions” by “MEET[ING] OR EXCEED[ING]” all “safety standards” “in every

single decision that we make” and concluded by stating that “[a] storm approaches.”

A person can not both declare safety as paramount and simultaneously look to use safety to obtain goals other than safety.

If one uses the guise of safety for something other than safety they are simply a fraud. You included.

Then USAPA is your fraud.

saftey is in the eyes of the beholder , if i'm driving on a tug and it's missing some anti slip coating on the foot rest , i COULD tag it out of service , or keep driving it .... if my union is trying to get a new contract , i'll tag it out of service ... let's just say that when there's a pay off at the end you suddenly become MUCH more saftey aware ..

Well, I guess you have never met an east US Airways pilot. They are doing just what you describe under direction of their terribly misguided "union" as a result of our seniority dispute.

Subsequent to America West Airlines rescuing US Airways from certain liquidation a legal process was followed to merge the America West pilots (west) with the original US Airways pilots (east). The result of that process came from legal and binding arbitration from a well respected arbitrator who was enthusiiasticallly chosen by the east pilots.

The east pilots were not happy with the result and used their larger numbers to vote our national union out only to replace it with an in house union designed specifically to mandate the east pilot's interests (first and foremost their version of seniority integration).

The actions of the east pilots are below despicable and have created the greatest animosity ever seen in the airline industry. As a west pilot I have been in the middle of this quagmire for several years and have been sickened by the actions of the east pilots. This current illegal job action is a true assault on safety and it is my wish that the management of US Airways takes quick action to crush these fools.

I, too, am former military and find it hard to comprehend professional pilots sinking so low.

If your are searching for your soul in an aircraft cockpit it is going to take a while.

I too am a former military pilot with over 500 combat hours and it is hard to imagine an airline pilot with such small cajones. You also have such a small mind and live only in the world of Nic. This alleged action by you westies is imaginary. We are only doing our job, if the company is cutting corners, with regard to safety, it must mean the west is carrying write-ups and maintanence issues or the company has stopped maintanence on the east side as retribution. I suspect the west is carrying write-ups.

Shut up with that BS.

Try reading the complaint and the evidence the company has. Your full of #### with what you just wrote.

You and the rest of your yellow necker buddies better fall into place or you'll be looking for jobs.

And MELs are supposed to be carried you idiot. That's why they're MELs.

You are no better than they are by some of the words you are using....America West did not rescue anyone. Both companies were in serious trouble...... By refusing to admit that you are as deep in the hole with your head as others .... Inflamation using "words" my friend is not the way out of this mess.....

AWA was NOT in serious trouble. Not even close. Have you bothered to look up how many profitable quarters we had prior to the merger?

Obviously not.

How about US Air? They were on the verge of liquidation. Had this merger not occured, they would have liquidated. We weren't close to even filing for bankruptcy. And how long do airlines bounce around there? Look at Frontier, etc.

So save your lemming BS. Look stuff up yourself instead of repeat things you hear in the pilot lounge.

IOW, pull your head out of your ass.

Not in trouble?

Project Zanzibar?

And if you werent in trouble how come HP couldnt raise the cash for a merger and US Airways raised all the cash with the help of Seabury and Associates?

Your pay and benefits were at the bottom of the industry, and even the ATSB acknowledged that.

Educate yourself and the truth shall set you free!
