The tread about the newpaper profile on Donna Paladini mentioned the problem of TSA not permitting rampers to take sunscreen beyond the checkpoint. This prompted a discussion over on flyertalk:

I wish the unions would simply shutter an airport, or even the country for a day. Like a 2x4 to hysteria, it might do a lot to wake up the US middle (rapidly descending to lower) class workers.

I cannot believe any airline worker with their eyes open would support the present morons in the white house.

A single day suspension of service would reap a lot of positive features. More than one day? I got lots of baseball bats, not that they would be needed.

If a witless white house moron died, well, it might as well be considered collateral damage, right? Who cares? They don't care about Americans that die due to their policies, why would we?

That witless moron you refer to is doing more then any other President to protect our country. Maybe you would prefer a President whose claim to fame is soiling a blue dress?

Well said Capt...... BRAVO!!!

I dont' feel any more or less safe with this idiot .. and soiling a dress is Clinton's claim to fame only because the republicans made a big deal out of a non issue!

The best the Bushwipes have after too many years of a stumblebum is whining about Clinton.

Sorry, Bud, but I don't remember being embroiled in any U.S. initiated wars during the previous administration.

I do remember a sense of hope for the country. That's been extinguished by the current administration.

I think Sir Alec Guinness said it best in his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars, "Who is the bigger fool? The fool, or the fool that follows him?"

Or, would you prefer, "Fool me once...uh...shame on you...fool me twice...uh...we won't get fooled again." Guess whose quote that is.

I'd prefer him by a factor of 100, at least!

BTW, no one mentioned the president, I find it amusing that when someone said "moron" you immediately thought "Bush" 😀

No one has damaged national security more than W. and his thuggish band of neo-crooks.

So tell me: Do you feel the moron that the French love and whose wife is a flaming liberal to the point she's insane, well do you feel John would have been a better choice? You know John, the kind of guy who invents things, born with a silver spoon, fakes being a war hero. John Kerry would be a better President? Or maybe Gore should have won that way we all could be using ground up fruit and vegetables instead of fossil fuel he believes is destroying the world, you know, either of these two buffoons from mars. Face it, neither of the two parties are on our side and anyone who believes one or the other actually is, needs some serious deprogramming before they go completely insane.

Your absolutely right, we stood by and allowed the terrorist groups to Matastasize and plan their murderous plots. remember the 1993 world trade center bombing, the 1996 Khobar towers bombing, the 1998 Embassy bombings, the 2000 USS Cole bombing? Are you suggesting more of that same failed policy?

Oh yea we lobbed a few cruise missles and knocked out a Pharmaceutical plant, without putting so much as a dent into the Terrorist organizations.

There is plenty of blame to go around with both political parties, the fact is we are now doing something about it and If we fail to Defeat this Enemy, They will Defeat US.
The Bin Ladens of this world are eager to become martyrs, and vow to not be taken alive. They WILL NOT SURRENDER, so either we kill them or they kill us.

Exactly how did he fake being a "war hero". As far as I was aware he served 2 tours. Last I checked your boy was defending Alabama (I think) from the dreadful VC, and his side kick got not 1, not 2, not 3 not 4 but 5, yes 5 deferments so that he would not have to put his sorry little ass where he is more than willing to place others. Hell I'll even give you that he got a medal he did not deserve (I honestly have no clue nor do I care) but at least he served.

I would take Kerry or Gore over cheney for the sole reason that we would not have a US supreme court and white house run by the christian right.

Last time I checked, Bush was not born in a shack out in the back woods of Virginia. His dad did apparently use his influence to keep his son out of harms way. How the Right can question the morality of others with a straight face while letting those two skate is a true testament to their hypocrisy.

Your last sentence is the only one that made any sense.

So which son of a legislator didn't use Daddy to keep him out of harms way?Seems thats the way it was back then....Funny, I remember a song about that:

Some folks are born, made to wave the flag.
Ooh, they're red, white and blue.
And when the band plays "Hail to the chief",
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord.

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no senator's son, son.
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, no.

Some folks are born, silver spoon in hand,
Lord, don't they help themselves, yoh?
But when the taxman comes to the door,
Lord, the house looks like a rummage sale, yeah.

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no millionaire's son, no no.
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, no.

<instrumental break>

Yeah, yeah!
Some folks inherit star spangled eyes,
Ooh, they send you down to war, Lord.
And when you ask them, "How much should we give?"
Ooh, they only answer "More! more! more!" yoh.

It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no military son, son.
It ain't me, it ain't me; I ain't no fortunate one, one.
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate one, no no no,
It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate son, no no no,

Back away from the Konservative Kool-Aid! You are at toxic levels. Help is available.

BTW, you cleverly overlook the fact that Gore DID win, Shrub-the-lesser was merely crowned by the right-wing activist Supreme Court.
And yes, either one would be better by a factor of 1000 or even more.

Don't forget the suicide truck bombing of the Marine Corps barracks in Beirut in 1983(Iranian-sponsored)that killed around 250 Marines, after which the sainted Ronnie Reagan "cut and ran." Then, he played "Let's Make a Deal" arms-for-hostages (Iran-Contra) version, with these same terrorists, while lying directly to Congress and the American public. Gee, where would the terrorists get the idea that Republicans were just a bunch of sell-outs?

Also, Bush-the-Lesser received a Presidential Daily Briefing entitled, "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S." Did he sit up, take notice, man the situation room and devote all his efforts to preventing this tragedy? Well, uh, no. He went to the ranch for six weeks of vacation. We saw a repeat of that same "attention to the big things" last year during Katrina/Rita. New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast still lie in ruins, left to the mercy of the insurance industry and crony contractors who pocket enormous sums (billions) and do...nothing, with no fear of having to answer for it. How much do they have to fail and sell out America before you get it?

You say there is blame for both parties, yet only cite perceived failure during the Clinton Administration. So I'll keep it real for you.

"Measures taken by the Clinton administration to thwart international terrorism and bin Laden's network were historic, unprecedented and, sadly, not followed up on. Consider the steps offered by Clinton's 1996 omnibus anti-terror legislation, the pricetag for which stood at $1.097 billion. The following is a partial list of the initiatives offered by the Clinton anti-terrorism bill:

Screen Checked Baggage: $91.1 million
Screen Carry-On Baggage: $37.8 million
Passenger Profiling: $10 million
Screener Training: $5.3 million
Screen Passengers (portals) and Document Scanners: $1 million
Deploying Existing Technology to Inspect International Air Cargo: $31.4 million
Provide Additional Air/Counterterrorism Security: $26.6 million
Explosives Detection Training: $1.8 million
Augment FAA Security Research: $20 million
Customs Service: Explosives and Radiation Detection Equipment at Ports: $2.2 million
Anti-Terrorism Assistance to Foreign Governments: $2 million
Capacity to Collect and Assemble Explosives Data: $2.1 million
Improve Domestic Intelligence: $38.9 million
Critical Incident Response Teams for Post-Blast Deployment: $7.2 million
Additional Security for Federal Facilities: $6.7 million
Firefighter/Emergency Services Financial Assistance: $2.7 million
Public Building and Museum Security: $7.3 million
Improve Technology to Prevent Nuclear Smuggling: $8 million
Critical Incident Response Facility: $2 million
Counter-Terrorism Fund: $35 million
Explosives Intelligence and Support Systems: $14.2 million
Office of Emergency Preparedness: $5.8 million

The Clinton administration poured more than a billion dollars into counterterrorism activities across the entire spectrum of the intelligence community, into the protection of critical infrastructure, into massive federal stockpiling of antidotes and vaccines to prepare for a possible bioterror attack, into a reorganization of the intelligence community itself. Within the National Security Council, "threat meetings" were held three times a week to assess looming conspiracies. His administration prepared a voluminous dossier on al-Qaeda and Osama bin Laden, actively tracking them across the planet.

Clinton raised the issue of terrorism in virtually every important speech he gave in the last three years of his tenure.

Clinton's dire public warnings about the threat posed by terrorism, and the actions taken to thwart it, went completely unreported by the media, which was far more concerned with stained dresses and baseless rumors(some still are). When the administration did act militarily against bin Laden and his terrorist network, the actions were dismissed by partisans within the media and Congress as scandalous "wag the dog" tactics. The news networks actually broadcast clips of the movie "Wag the Dog" while reporting on his warnings, to accentuate the idea that everything the administration said was contrived fakery."

Question: If they won't surrender, how is it that we have so many prisoners all over the world?

Well, Al Gore, for a start.

Love the CCR lyrics!
