Had a 757 and a 319 RON tonight next to each other. They looked nice in the new paint job.

They look great. Problem is they look like a different airline

I really preferred the previous two Star liveries. The first had the plane divided into each carriers paint job- a United nose, then Lufthansa etc- only problem was that most of them were boring white anyway. The second had a square with each carriers name on it. They were fun, good advertising for all, and had a nice international flair.

The new one is a little too boring and bill-boardy. It doesn't really show what Star Alliance is, it assumes the folks in Dayton, Quesnel, and Poznan already know what the Star Alliance is and who are members of it aside from thier hometown player. It also assumes they have good eyesight and know to look for the miniscule airline name by the door.

I'm a firm believer that the tail of an aircraft should never lie. The fuselage can dress how it may, but the tail should always be serious and say who they are. If it's US Airways in a Star Alliance livery, the tail should still let you know. If it's RyanAir using thier plane as an ad for VodaFone, it should still have Ryanair on the tail. Mesa as US Airways Express- Mesa on the tail.

Not only for more honesty with the public and pride for the workforce, but what's the first thing they paint at a crash site? The tail. Seeing an airline's symbol on the news under those conditions is irreprable damage, particularly if it's not really that airline... sorry to be morbid.

I guess I'm just a traditionalist. I'm also a believer in crewmembers wearing smart, crisp, recognizable, crew uniforms instead of khakis and sneakers, and treating passengers as guests rather than city bus commuters. My time has gone, I think...

But as for the US Star Alliance planes, they are very boring but do look much better in real life than in photos.

Should I drink enough?....I'm easily impressed by an old whore in a new dress too.

Thankfully age and wisdom has warded me away from drinking too much..least of all eye-wash and kool-aid

I always agree with you, Light Years, in regard to matters of style... hey, can you 'queer eye' me?

I'd like to announce that I'm the first person EVER to use the term 'queer eye' as a verb on the USaviation boards.

The above statement makes no inference as to the gender and/or sexual orientation of any of the posters on this thread.

I get absoluetely sickened every time I see a "DEATHSTAR ALLIANCE" paint job. That represents YOUR flying and YOUR maintenance going over seas.

DENVER, CO

Oh boo hoo hoo.

Listen, if it had not been for the UA-US link up last year, I would have taken my and my colleague's $60,000 in C class fares over to American Airlines when we were flying to Shanghai and Hong Kong.

Think about that for a bit...

Oh boo hoo hoo yourself, I got a sneaking suspicion the only reason you flew UA-US over AMR was cost. Thanks for flying anyway...Lighten up Mr. Wonderful, We all know "we're not worthy" of your business. 😉

Ditto. The UA-US link-up, in my opinion, has been a key factor to keeping business customers. As a frequent US customer, I've directed a lot of business to UA that would otherwise have gone to AS. And, I have colleagues who are frequent UA customers who have directed business to US that would otherwise have gone to DL.

Ummm.....at $5700 a pop cost was not an issue. AA offered a slightly better schedule to HKG and roughly equivalent to PVG. The winning factor was the alliance.
