Stocks fall as investors ponder Obama presidency

Thats great news...so wheres the jobs?

Unemployment sets a grim record in 2009
20 million Americans collected jobless benefits at some point in the year

WASHINGTON - A record 20 million-plus Americans collected unemployment benefits at some point in 2009, a year that ended with the jobless rate at 10 percent.
No. 1 Top Story Of 2009: Foreclosures and Unemployment

As we take a look back at the stories you picked as the top 5 of 2009, the number 1 story is our current economic situation - mainly our neighbors losing their homes and their jobs.

2009 saw the Dow flirt with 11,000 and many of us saw our retirement savings crawl back to pre-recession levels. But while those numbers felt good on paper, many Americans felt the daily hurt of the struggling economy.

You started this thread based on the stock market and Obama as President.
Ok then prove the relation between the recent increase on Wall Street is benefiting main street. The losses in 2009 due to the new administration (and the democratic majority the past few years) reverberated from wall street all the way down to main street, yet the gains or reversal has not affected job growth. Rather it got worse.

Again I ask you. Wheres the jobs?

My apologies. You did not start this thread.

You can start one on jobs if you wish.

Are you going to argue for Southwind that the original premise of the thread is true? Or are you going to continue to ignore the topic altogether.

I will make one statement on jobs here.

Jobs follow economic growth. Firms do not hire in the hopes that their business will get better.

Like I said before, if you want to start a thread, you sure do know how...

So then your assertions are false and you admit it?

But , as all of us are aware, whatever gains are made by the private business sector, will be eaten up by the Liberal Dems policy of "Tax n' Spend", hence gains in the stock market are a moot point !

To what are you referring?

Perhaps (mr/ms) Southwind is referring to today's stock market(the first day of trading for 2010) that's UP 158+ points, as it heads toward 11,000 !

A prediction (topic starter) like this, is in Danger of resembling a Fox "news" broadcast !

Tell it to the millions who lost their $$$ and prosperity from the market devastation due to Obama and the dems. You think that the recent market increases have restored to be a zero sum game? Not even close.

Garfield,
Somehow your facts will be "spun' into Our President's (BO's) Fault.

How Anyone can remotely blame the democrats for the devastation of folks 401k's, is beyond comprehension !
