Anyone catch the PBS show Nova last night? was about the investigation and how they figured out the cause.
Was interesting, and sad.. remember that night and the days that followed.

I didn't know that they had announced the cause of the fire. I thought that the TSB had only released a preliminary best guess cause.

That being said, I saw a TSB presentation in YYC a year or so ago that showed some horrific pictures, not the sort that would make it onto TV (hopefully). Amazing what they can do with 2 million little bits of molten metal.

well... according to what was said on the NOVA show they had found the wire that arced and ignited the mylar metal insulation thus creating a fire.. so I am guessing they had pinpointed the cause. Think the TSB did an amazing job. Given the location and condition of the wreckage.. it's pretty impressive they found what they did. The miracles of moderns science..

I didn't see the show. It's good that they found the culprit, was it part of the IFE system?
