Tariffs

Europeans won’t pay the Trump tax for six months. You still will.

MAGA will ***** about an 8% increase in the price of groceries under Biden but will happily pay 30% more so Trump can win his tariff war. They come back with "yeah, well Europe has a tariff on everything we export". And they do. And the cost to Americans for those tariffs they charge on American goods is zero. The cost to American's for a Trump tariff win is higher prices.

And Trump delayed Mexico for 90 days. But here's to hoping for a Trump win...I can't wait to pay more for **** to make America great.

So let’s see. Some things get a little more expensive because of Tariffs and I’m still working.

I can work Overtime pretty much at will so I can make up some differences that way.

And to be honest my Company just this January gave us a nice fat raise that easily made up for the Biden years inflation disaster.

But this is where my big money has been coming in.

And I’m still following my glass always full optimist guru CNBC contributor Fundstrat’s Tom Lee.

If you thought Bidenflation was bad, just wait until we feel the full effects of self imposed MAGAflation.

How much investment outside of your 401K are you raking in?

Help me out here....I have heard from conservatives that any increased costs due to taxes or regulations are passed on to the customer. They are never met with "they will charge what the market will bear"....Unless it's a tariff....THEN they will only charge what the market will bear. So I guess I have to change my statement to, when it comes to tariffs, a win for Trump means American Business will pay more. If there is $20,000 worth of steel in a car and this is factored into the $70,000 price tax, when the steel is subect to a 50% tariff, making it $30,000...how much of that should a manufacturer eat?
No, a win for Trump does NOT mean American business will pay more, it means American business that use foreign labor or raw goods will pay more. If they use Chinese steel (which is most likely bought from Japan) instead of American steel then yes they pay more. If they use American steel then no tariffs. Unfortunately they shut a lot of American steel mills down chasing profit and now the bill is due.

Business often take less profit when their costs go up. I buy boutique flight simulator gear, those companies suffered from both increased cost and supply shortages of electronic components during the pandemic. Their prices did not go up because they already charged a premium to begin with. Raising the price would have only hurt sales so it was a zero sum game.

Your example is absurd. No car in this world uses $20,000. worth of steel. An average SUV takes about 1 to 1.4 metric tons of steel. The most common steel used in manufacturing an SUV cost about $800 to $1,000 a ton. $1400 dollars plus 50% tariffs would be about $2100, nowhere near your absurd $30,000. If you are going to use an example try to use one that is less stupid.
