Seeking to cut costs, technology companies shed the most jobs, followed by the retail and services sectors, the outplacement firm found. Amazon, UPS, Microsoft and other firms have recently announced layoffs.

In what could be another sign of a softening labor market, October layoffs jumped 175% from a year ago to 153,074, the highest level since 2003, Challenger, Gray & Christmas said.

"Some industries are correcting after the hiring boom of the pandemic, but this comes as AI adoption, softening consumer and corporate spending, and rising costs drive belt-tightening and hiring freezes," Andy Challenger, chief revenue officer for Challenger, Gray & Christmas, said in a statement. "Those laid off now are finding it harder to quickly secure new roles, which could further loosen the labor market."

So Americans are paying more AND seeing jobs cut. MAGA. But not to worry....Trump himself has said (and if Trump says it, who are we to question it) that the tariffs have brought in TRILLIONS. and to celebrate....almost everybody is going to get a $2,000 tariff dividend. But Josh Hawley of Missouri has already introduced a bill (after Trump said we would get a "rebate") And that was only $600 per citizen. But "rebate" implies you aer getting money BACK, which is actually a pretty accurate description since the American consumer was the one paying the actual tariff.

But this is a "dividend"...which makes it sound like it's just a windfall of money that was paid by other countries. Now I'm starting the timer to see how quickly "fist pumper Hawley" goes into modify the existing bill OR abandoning it and introducing and all new "dividend" bill

But this is kind of interesting....one reason companies are "eating" the tariffs is because they ramped up imports a LOT prior to the April start of Whack a Mole tariffs

Get help.
I make one post in a month that cites our president claiming that we have "trillions" in tariff money, when we have a trillion in total imports...not tariffs...then again, soures close to Trump say he "speaks hyperbole like a second language", which is a nice way of saying "he lies like a big dog". I then post a chart that illustrates what business did in the months leading up the whack a mole phase of tariff implementation. And you tell ME to get help and not the guy who has been having a conversation with himself for the past several months. Enough posts to himself that he basically killed these boards.
