ariffs are the answer to rectifying those Trade imbalances.

We have had a trade surplus wtih Brazil for decades (they buy more from us than we do from them). Yet Trump imposed a 25% tariff on them. What was his reasoning for doing that? of we are trying to correct a trade imbalance? We have a trade surplus with Singapore, yet he imposed a 10% tariff on them. Why? We have a trade surplus with Australia, yet we have a 50% tariff on their steel. Why? We have a 25% tariff on Brazil because OUR president doesn't want THEIR government prosecuting him for a coup attempt because he feels some kinship with him? Is that worth paying 25% more for coffee? Every tariff win for Trump means Americans will pay more. But I'm calling bullshit on the trade imbalance reason.

FYI the World 🌎 owes us. To this day since the Industrial Revolution America 🇺🇸 has invented and built the modern era. Yes America is a premium store and buyer. If the World wants to do business with the largest economy and market on Earth they need to pay an extra price.

How is a 25% tariff on a country that we have had a surplus with for decades address any trade imbalance? Especially when other countries we have a surplus with face a tariff of "only" 10%? Other than making your coffee cost a lot more so you can feel good about making America great. As I said, when it comes to tariffs, every win for Trump means American's pay more. What people don’t seem to get is having a massive almost Trillion Dollar a year Trade deficit is unsustainable. America can go Bankrupt. Think of what happens to a business (Ex: Spirit Airlines) if the Money coming in isn’t enough to cover expenses. It’s really a very simple concept. What happens to the employees (citizens) when they keep demanding more and more that the Business (Government) can’t cover?

I don’t believe the SCOTUS will let that happen but we’ll see?
