at the same time, while US automakers face a 50% tariff on steel and aluminum (as will Japanese cars built here), if a Japanese car is imported, they would only face a 15% tariff, which automakers, including GM have said puts them at a disadvantage. Indeed...one has to wonder if GM will decide to invest that $5 billion into building factories in Japan to keep them competitive with the Japanese automakers.
