Tax Day Tea Party

Southwind, I posted on an aspect of this a while ago, but it is probably more appropriate in your thread than ther other one, so I will repeat it here:

Based upon what happened above (the "Santelli Rant" and his idea for a Chicago Tea Party), a Chicago Tea Party is now being held on April 15 (as some of you have mentioned happening in other locales). And it appears they are doing it right. When RNC Chairman, Michael Steele, requested to be able to speak at the tea party, he was denied because "this is an opportunity for everyday citizens to speak and for elected officials to listen. We've been listening to them for years. On April 15, we are taking this opportunity to speak to them. It's not an opportunity for them to speak to us." Keepin it grassroots.

Yeah ! Can't wait to see how much coverage the "Liberal" minded media gives it !

i'm familiar with the tea party people ....via the interent

i've questioined them on their suggestions to solve our econmic crisis ... they don't really have an answer ... mostly a buch of radicals etc .... lacking in rationality ..

Two Tea Parties in downtown DC April 15 11-3 in Lafayette Park in fron to WH and another in front of Treasury Dept. next door to WH. 12-2 pm

You need to walk away from the liberal vs. conservative false paradigm. The media loves it. Tax protestors are called "right wing" extremists in order to elicit a negative knee jerk reaction by the so called "liberals."
Obama...Pelosi's little puppet? Hardly! You flatter her. She's small potatos
The Obama Deception

I'm not sure if you heard it yesterday, but Alan Jones & Tom Hartman simulcasted both of their radio programs. It was very good listening, regardless of what side of the political spectrum you happen to be on. The talked about this very issue quite a bit.

BTW, am I the only one that finds it hilarious to hear all of this so-called conservatives using "tea bag" as a verb? Do any of them know what that actually means?

Most of these people are so far removed from what the original tea party was...it is comical at best.

there was around 1500 here for it small compared to the crowd the messiah drew last fall ,biggest difference I seen at this no one had their hands out looking for a handout

Here in Kansas City, the morning paper said that "spokesmen" said that these were not going to be "obama bashing" sessions, but people who are voicing their displeasure over spending and taxes. A local talk radio host (right wing of course) "hosted" one of them. I listened for about a half hour. The first 15 minutes sounded like a combination of an Iraq war rally and NRA meeting...they had a vet who lost a leg in Iraq and spoke to chants of "USA USA", followed by the comment that they were going to take away our guns. The second 15 minutes was devoted to a black woman who talked about how much heat she took from her family for not voting for Obama. I didn't really see where those topics had much to do with taxes and spending.

Then...the host was looking to give away prizes for folks with the best signs. One sign she read "I'll keep my God, my guns and my unborn children and you can keep the change". Still trying to figure out what any of that had to do with taxes and spending. Note to the right wing....if you want to protest taxes and spending, fine...but you might want to keep those "God, guns, gays and babies" folks away from the rally.

On a side note...while listening to local talk radio (of course it's right wing...what local talk radio isn't), I heard people saying that the attendees of these "tea parties" were "patriots". It made me wonder. Back in 2003...and every year since then...when I asked "where are we getting the money to fund this war we shouldn't even be fighting"...I was called America hater, troop hater and terrorist sympatizer. Today, people saying the EXACT SAME THING..."Where are we getting all this money to pay for these bailouts"...and they are "patriots". What a difference a democrat in office has made.

Make no mistake about it FFC flyer , these individuals are NOT patriots … they are self centered and uninformed …. These people are the greatest threat to the united states of America that now exists …

I believe in freedom of speech , but not when uninformed and low intelligence people pose a threat to our national security …

They complain about bail outs and taxes , but few of them understand the need to keep our nations largest banks solvent or why AIG a third party insure must be bailed out … They cry out that they are being taxed to death , yet it escapes them that if the economy collapses taxes will no longer matter along with any money they have in the bank ….

I would try and try to get through to them , but sometimes you’ve got to stop bashing your head against a wall ….

These people must be monitored and we CANNOT allow them to cause trouble during the worst economic crisis of our nations history … many of them are mentally unstable and or incompetent and they cannot be allowed to be seen as credible …

May god bless America …

KC while i don;t disagree with some of what your saying there is a heckva a lot of pork being spent now that has nothing to do with that war.
While the Dems are doing it now the other side certainly has done it before as well

contrary to what many believe bigger government and more spending is not the answer to everything

The pork you describe was a bribe to the assholes on both sides to get votes to secure O's radical agenda.
