I was talking to one of my FA friend's and she said DEN base FA's are getting int'l qualified to do Mexico TED flights. She said it's gonna go to all the tourist destinations in Mexico. Sounds like TED is starting to grow some teeth. Good stuff if it's true.

My info is probably not as current, but Ted, despite the naysayers such as Boyd, is being so successful (yields and revenue, not just load factor) that there is heated discussion within UA about new network opportunities that just could not be considered before. Mexico was not in the original Ted network plan but is one of those new markets that Ted is making possible and was being discussed.

With any start-up though, it's always risky deviating too early from the gameplan, and there was a clear network plan for the first 40 Ted aircraft. If UA does deviate from the original plan, they will have to be extra careful on the execution. Despite some upset FF'ers used to upgrading to F in markets like Vegas (see other threads) UA/Ted seems to have done a good job of the initial launch -- communications, marketing, expectation setting and the all-important execution of the operation. The simplified pricing structure (not the level of the lowest fares) is a big deal that most of the press are missing and is key to the financial performance.

United (Ted) has applied for a Saturday only flight to Cancun from DEN, and is waiting for gov't approval to begin the route. Alegient and somebody else is trying to get that gov't approval too, but I would guess that Ted will get it.

I anticipate TED's service to Mexico from DEN to mirror Frontier's. (Not that TED's gunning for Frontier, mind you 😱 )
