Temp Replacements Or Full Time?

Most of these guys are contractors. They are only in it for the $32/hr. Most of that is tax free BTW. They are getting alot of it as per diem. I doubt many are willing to stay in MSP or DET once the snow starts flying for $18/hr.

Momentum will build among the other unions as time goes by. The other unions on the property and those of other airlines as well will NOT stand by and watch scab workers replace ANY work group in this industry.

For the same reason they crossed the picket line, the "other union(s)" members will do nothing. You seem to forget the threat of BK on their own positions. And what, pray tell, can the unions "of other airlines" possibly do in this fight?

The train has left the station. The only support that might have kept it from leaving would have been solidarity on the part of "the other unions on the property". But for reasons that have been adequately covered, that did not happen.

"That my friend" is just wishful thinking. It has happened before but neither the airline, nor the seniority jobs survived.

It is obvious to me the there is a completely unrealistic mindset on the part of the AA AMT posters that have now practically hi-jacked this NW forum to carry on their continuing fight over AMT union representation on their own airline property.

You need to get off your high horse fellas and pay attention. Do not think that NE will not fill your shoes.

Sundown on the Union
Bob Dylan

Well, my shoes, they come from Singapore,
My flashlight's from Taiwan,
My tablecloth's from Malaysia,
My belt buckle's from the Amazon.
You know, this shirt I wear comes from the Philippines
And the car I drive is a Chevrolet,
It was put together down in Argentina
By a guy makin' thirty cents a day.

Well, it's sundown on the union
And what's made in the U.S.A.
Sure was a good idea
'Til greed got in the way.

Well, this silk dress is from Hong Kong
And the pearls are from Japan.
Well, the dog collar's from India
And the flower pot's from Pakistan.
All the furniture, it says "Made in Brazil"
Where a woman, she slaved for sure
Bringin' home thirty cents a day to a family of twelve,
You know, that's a lot of money to her.

Well, it's sundown on the union
And what's made in the U.S.A.
Sure was a good idea
'Til greed got in the way.

Well, you know, lots of people complainin' that there is no work.
I say, "Why you say that for
When nothin' you got is U.S.-made?"
They don't make nothin' here no more,
You know, capitalism is above the law.
It say, "It don't count 'less it sells."
When it costs too much to build it at home
You just build it cheaper someplace else.

Well, it's sundown on the union
And what's made in the U.S.A.
Sure was a good idea
'Til greed got in the way.

Well, the job that you used to have,
They gave it to somebody down in El Salvador.
The unions are big business, friend,
And they're goin' out like a dinosaur.
They used to grow food in Kansas
Now they want to grow it on the moon and eat it raw.
I can see the day coming when even your home garden
Is gonna be against the law.

Well, it's sundown on the union
And what's made in the U.S.A.
Sure was a good idea
'Til greed got in the way.

Democracy don't rule the world,
You'd better get that in your head.
This world is ruled by violence
But I guess that's better left unsaid.
From Broadway to the Milky Way,
That's a lot of territory indeed
And a man's gonna do what he has to do
When he's got a hungry mouth to feed.

Well, it's sundown on the union
And what's made in the U.S.A.
Sure was a good idea
'Til greed got in the way.

Well you just keep buying those cheap goods over there and supporting the sweatshops. Keep talking down about them hard working folk that’s making pennies while you drive around in your Toyota wearing you silk shirt with a smile on your face thinking what a great deal you got. Cheap a$$ ba$tard.

Just a song about how the unions are history in america.

I have no use for them, just a scheme to ensure that lots of people are doing the work that lots less can do, and the head union goon gets a bunch of money being a greedhead and taking all he can.

RTB, you're IAM... are you cleaning aircraft and doing pushbacks? If so, those who live in glass houses probably shouldn't be throwing stones....

Former Moderator,
With regards to pushbacks and cleaning of a/c my station has not been affected by the mechanics strike since we do not have mechanics or cleaners in house.
We have been doing this work for years now. However;

[/quote=Former ModerAAtor, The work can be done by either workgroup, so it's a stretch to call someone a scab for performing work that's in-scope for their contract.

Have been to school, have a job, have a life, am not on welfare. I did it all without walking on the backs of hard working honest people. Too bad you cannot say the same.

If I recall the other unions at EAL did not join the Strike right away either, and they were all AFL-CIO.
