17 replys to my topic, and everyone missed the POINT. That Being that Forest Whitaker...is giving IMO the Best performance of his great career. Who G-A-Shitt about Ms. Winfrey ?? I NEVER even mentioned her name. This Flic has a triple-A Great cast from Robin Williams on down.

Ms Winfrey does. And she will be greatly disappointed if SHE isn't nominated for some academy award, which given our starf***er nature, she will, regardless of how small a part she plays. Her presence detracts from an otherwise great cast. But the producers were shrewd....her presence will attract those who can't decide on book to read without her guidance.

I actually tend to agree with you here - She has often reminded us that we don't know what it's like to grow up asa black woman in America. She left out the part that I also don't know what it's like to earn $40 million a year. Interesting thing though....in the FYI section of today's KC Star, they have a "graph" of the highs and lows of teh week that was. at then end, with the graph trending down was this

BUt, as the title of this/my thread suggests,.....It's Forest Whitaker, and his masterful performance. We all sometimes fail to remember how long, and how Many very good pictures F W has been in. He already won an Oscar, and in most cases, is very likeable in his movies. Rarely do I see him playing 'victim roles' ! ! ! I put him in the same group of black actors who are likeable, like say Denzel, or Morgan Freeman.
Face it, the dude has got his acting shitt together ! Whether on this board, or not,......anyone painting FW with the OW brush, is doing Mr. Whitaker and this Very good movie, a theatrical Injustice .
I mean,.....DIRTY... D I C K ..Cheney could be in this film, and " I / ME " would Still go and see it !
