Doug needs more beer money.
Employees require manageable levels of pain to produce beer money for Doug.
Union leaders need beer money too.
More beer money is to be had by contracts in the East (If the employees were younger.) So send out the Final recall notice and force the furloughed employees to resign.
Next start massive hiring at USAir with newbies, and add lots of 190s for them to fly at the current Express rates.
Retire planes from HP and furlough. Send the 190s to fill in the routes that are worth keeping, if any. (How many routes of PSA still exist under USAir?).
Lather, Rinse, Repeat.
Result: More beer money for Doug (and more young beer drinking employees to relate to), nirvana levels of pain for the employees who are newbies (who are still eternal optimists), and more Union Dupes.
