The Fixation with US

My reason is because I live between PA and FL and my proximity to PHL makes me WANT US to be a success. I also fly all over the usa, but I always originate from AVP/PHL or PBI.

The reason us "easties" are so damn loyal is because US goes everywhere we need to be. Not only have I been flying this airline for an eternity - US is a major employer in my home state of PA. I don't want to see them fail, and I hope Pyongyang is watching. I'm sure they learn a lot here. A lot of what I learn about my own company I learn from watching a few web forums.

If you cannot take the consequences (blowback) from being cheap, then perhaps it is time for you to consider getting out of the kitchen.

I can handle it. It's time for some of you to quit whining and get a life outside of bashing US Airways...if you have no personal stakes in the success or demise of US Airways beyond your usual pointing and laughing...move on. This employee has had enough.

Buh-Bye

If you've left and you no longer care or have a stake in the future of this company then why are you here?

Again, I don't mean to be snarky but I know if I don't like a company I sure wouldn't be spending a lot of time hanging out on an internet messagboard picking a part everything done by that company. I'd be out with my friends or family or maybe even reading a book. The level of obsession I observe here borders on unhealthy.

So, can someone explain this fixation? I really would like to know.

Speaking only for myself, I have a vested interest in what goes on at U in a couple of different areas. I'm one of those who gets my retirement from the PBGC after that dastardly distressed termination the defined benefit pension plans.

Secondly, a dear friend of mine is in the same boat as I am plus .....we both know many active pilots who have been affected negatively by the NIC award and although retired, we are both pro USAPA, having known ALPO and the U people on ALPO National who helped screw their own people. Believe me, we DO care!

One other reason is that both of us remember when AAA was a fine airline and the darling of Wall Street. We were there!

I think you are wrong to assume that those who read and post here are obsessed or fixated. We have lives beyond this board and rather interesting lives at that.

I don't think you are being snarky at all; new maybe but not snarky. The only way to learn is to ask and you did. Kudos kiddo.

From what I can tell, most of the posters here are not former employees/customers. Some are, but not most.
----------------------

And, I may be wrong, but a number of the posters seem to care deeply about LCC and its future. Pointing out the things that threaten that future is actually healthy. There is always the chance that someone at the decision-making level may actually listen and take approriate action.

I am surprised anyone would find it strange to find that former employees would have an interest in this board. After a 35 and a half year long career in a cockpit, you just don't forget that overnight. A career like that is a huge part of a person's life and I find it strange that you don't understand that. 😱 There are issues afoot that concern us even now. Can you spell "Soaring Eagles"?

Well, I am still interested in that date. I hear you are kinda sorta cute.

 I don't know about anybody else, but this is what keeps me occasionally coming back. If we ever ran a contest as to the Greatest Quotes on this board, US1's "BITE ME, DOUCHBAG!" is by far the greatest

...moving on...
Mental Note: I hate Sunshine Marys. "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say it!" As long as I've been on the internet...It's much less than most...people are going to say what they feel. And herbivores are doomed to die first!

Looks like someone will be coming to an empty board, now that he/she has found the 'don't show me' button! They'll also find that nothing makes sense because most posters think US sucks!

Maybe it's nostaligia. Maybe it's just wistful yearning for happier days. Maybe it's anger that life's curve balls and some mismanagement (pre-merger) caused US to decline to the point that it had no choice but to merge with HP.

There's nothing wrong with nostalgia. There were much happier days on this airline. However, in my view not only has the culture of airlines changed but our culture in general has as well. Civility is seen less and less and more is the pity. Respect bacteria; it is the only culture most people have.

Yeeesh! Don't get me going!

This Board is like a bad car accident - you know you shouldn't stare but you can't help it.
