What's new

The happy thread

Good post, but I respectfully disagree on some points.
They company should asked ICAO for a completely new call sign, one that is not divisive. "Blue Tail"? "Blue Streak" is apparently available again. http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:_PjI-rG1V7AJ:www.airlinecodes.co.uk/callsign.asp+icao+callsigns&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

The blue top colors had prestige and panache. And could be spotted a long way off.

Parents have to pay svc charges (plus taxes); a trip to Europe can be well north of USD200. Sometimes a ZED on an OAL is less expensive. I would be not against the old choice between USD 50 annual fee for each person on the term pass (there was a cap for large families) for unlimited free travel or a svc fee for each trip.

Blue Streak is the Call Sign for USAirways Owned Express Operator PSA , so it is not available.

The call sign goes back to the Days of JETSTREAM INTL which the Original Piedmont Purchased and has since changed its name to PSA.

I have a hunch that it was a PR decision - the rule requiring carriers to report to the DOT the loss, injury, or death of pets carried as cargo was published for comments in May 2005. That data is included in the monthly DOT report.

More of a convenience issue. At the same time shipping DG and selling certain commodities, e.g airtrays, were discontinued. .

The WiFi is a nice option US has added. My flights go by much faster when I can use the internet. Also the new snack offered has me sold. 'Spice up your flight'

Speaking of Wifi....the company hasn't collected enough data to decide if they want to extend the Wifi to other aircraft types? 🙄 Of many things that US has tried, people ARE using the Wifi. I notice passengers using it on the A321 on shorter flights too. Just another example of how US operates. Delta and Northwest are pretty much integrated while United and Continental are moving pretty fast too. It's amazing how other airlines roll things out and US just trugs along like the little engine that could. 🙄

Wonder how many are using special offers? Google is cooperating with GoGo with a discount code for the holidays. Several GoGo account plans cheaper than the per flight rates US charges are available on GoGo's website as well as other airlines - for the FF there's a monthly subscription good on any GoGo equipped plane of any airline for unlimited usage - for less than US charges for 3 longer flights.

As an aside, DL has about finished their Wi-Fi installations on mainline aircraft and is going to put it on 2-class RJ's.

Well I'm sure Delta isn't installing it because of it being a money loser. Of course we're talking Delta here. The same airline that can basically reband an airline overnight. They gut aircraft and revamp the insides from floor to ceiling. US moves at a snails pace and if it's even .000001% over the allowance made by a college intern in HQ it doesn't get done. 🙄

MESA emerged from Bankruptcy and continues to operate 38 90 seat jet aircraft for USAirways.

Brilliant!
